Guest guest
e Neuropathic pain is the most difficult pain to control. The longer it goes uncontrolled the harder it will be. Is she on any narcotics? Is she on an antidepressant? Is she on a anticonvulsant? Typically Neurontin works very well for neuropathic pain. A narcotic and antidepressant seem to increase the affect of the Neurontin. It is a anticonvulsant, but works on neuropathic pain. Usually the tricyclic antidepressants work best for pain control. There really are few other options for neuopathic pain. Good Luck. Guest guest
e I don't have any helpful words for Neuropathy because we have not had to deal with that at this point. Just wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear that is experiencing this. I hope that some of the others on the list will have some helpful advice for you. Sincerely, Bridget Mom To Owen "Water Boy Willis" 3 yrs, highly suspected Mito, mid-line hypotonia, seizures, global developmental delay, autism/PDD??, and the world's biggest belly laughand , 1 yr, developing well (thank God, everyday) Neuropathy Hi, I don't post to this list very often, but need some advice. My 5 year old, is beginning to experience Neuropathy pain. She has had increased complaints of her feet falling asleep despite the position she is in and woke up this morning saying that her feet were telling her to cut them off, because they were hurting so much. When she has an episode I rub them and it seems to help while I am rubbing them, but as soon as I stop she is complaining again. I took her to the Pedi who feels it is Neuropathy, but neither one of us are ready to start her on a new medication right now. She is already on a lot. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.e Mom to Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.

Guest guest
I had a lot of nerve pain around my incision and the Dr. prescribed a drug called NEURONTIN (sp?). He said it works well on nerve pain, so it may work on your neuropathy. I also used LIDOCAINE PATCHES (prescription). You stick them on the problem area and it numbs the nerves close to the surface. Very best of luck for a speedy recovery....

Guest guest
Dear Back2me, I also suffered from neuropathy (pre-op). I was given a pill called Neurontin. At first, the dosage didn't do anything for me at all (I was on 600 mg). I ultimately got put up to 2800 mg. per day and I noticed sufficient lessening of the neuropathy (I had it hands and feet). Since the surgery, I'm off the neurontin and the neuropathy is barely noticeable (though it is still there). You might want to ask for neurontin and see if it works for you. A pleasing side effect of this drug is that it's a mood stabilizer also. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon. live each day like it's your last... love like you've never been hurt...
