Last night on the local news they were talking about the drastic increase of

obesity in our youth. Gosh, they even had telephone lines open to call for

advice on the subject. This morning I wrote this TV station about how

difficult it is to get insurance to pay for medical treatment when you are

obese. I told them a little about myself and how I have tried to lose and

keep off this weight since I was 6 years old. I explained that a surgical

procedure was my only hope at this time. I told them that I have fought with

my insurance comapny for over 3 years but they refuse to treat me because of

an obesity exclusion clause in my policy. In my appeals they have agreed

that this is a medical necessity but they will not pay because of the

exclusion. I really hope that they investigate this.
