Guest guest
Well, my blood sugar went down from 291 to 165, but that's still very high. My good cholesterol was good, but there was another cholesterol number that was 528 and normal was supposed to be around 200. I don't have the number for my liver enzymes, but they were elevated. My thyroid is essentially non-functional, which I knew, but at least now I have a doctor who looks at that and dispenses medication appropriately. Thanks for the welcome! Guest guest
Mellanie I've never had a thyroid problem (that I know of), but you sound a bit like I was in the beginning. Basically I needed to lose a lot of weight and have done that all this year. I just wanted to say to you that if weight has been any problem that in balancing your blood sugar you will probably find it easier to lose. It just happens. For me, when I lost about 1/3 of my excess weight, it felt like PARADISE! I have now lost a little more than half. My diabetes, blood pressure, sinuses, heart arrythmias have come under control, not to mention how great I can get around and feel! If this is your problem too, I wish you all the same. You may begin to feel this in only a few months. Guest guest
Maralee I don't know. But mine got better. Clogged nasal passages or something from too much fat? Thinner places now give more space? Janie > Janie, > > I have a lot of weight to lose too. Not really a sinus issue, but the excess pounds cause problems in the throat, leading to the breathing issues while a person sleeps, gail > > > >
Guest guest
If anyone wants to know, I lost the weight this way: Beginning in January 2004, I wrote EVERYTHING down that I eat with three columns: calories, carb gms., fat calories. And I still do. My daily cal intake started at about 1500-1700 but is now down to 1350- 1450. I NEVER eat more than 20% of my daily cals in fat cals. My carbs started at around 150-200 gms/day, with Glucophage XR, but are now down to 100-150 gms/day with 2 500-mg. Glucophage. I have excerised many times each week by food shopping/misc. household errands that turn into lengthy ones, and mall walking. According to body mass charts, I was " obese " at 236 lbs. in January 2004 and am now " overweight " at 170 lbs. I am female, small-boned, 5'6 " . I should now, in my 50's, weigh about 130-140 they tell me, but I'd rather go down to the slim 120 I weighed at 20. Janie > > OoPS! That question about loosing weight was for JANIE )
