I know the Ketamine is being used and researched lately - my doc said he would use a very small dose as it is very strong. I am nervous but I have to try it as blocks do not work on me and my whole body is just in such pain from the RSD. I'm at the point that I must do anything to try and stop this disease which is spreading at such a fast pace. I do have one more question though - you said it lasted about a week. How long did you have the treatment for - like how long did you have the IV in? I'm supposed to be in the hospital for about a week, but I would hate to be in there for a week for only a week of relief....doesn't seem to make sense. Guest guest Posted June 5, 2004 Report Share Posted June 5, 2004 Lori - The type of IV treatment your doc is suggesting is reported to have much longer lasting effects - though the extent and duration of those effects seems to vary by case. The type of Lidocaine IVs I got were done right in the clinic, only took an hour. I completely understand your willingness to try anything.....been there myself for a while. I go to the specialist sometime around the 15th of this month - I can't find where I wrote it down but it's the middle of the month. He said he is going on vacation in June so it would be in July whenever a bed is available. I hope when I go see him everything will be finalized. I was afraid you had the week long IV and it lasted a week....I was ready to say no way!!! lol I have heard alot of good things about the ketamine too, so I think I am making the right decision to try it. I don't really have many options left to be honest, and it's spreading so fast, and I sit here month after month just getting worse. So I pray it stops it and eases the pain some.
