Guest guest
Hi and welcome, Have you tried a supplement like Boost or Ensure? They go down easily and have the extra protein you need for healing. You can blend almost anything. People have done burritos, all kinds of pasta dishes, omelettes, etc. I tried pizza once but it did not work out too well. Same for cheeseburgers. Don't be afraid to experiment. Guest guest
Sorry, I forgot to answer the part about your bite being off. Most of us felt this way after surgery. If you're wired shut there's no danger of anything having moved. If you're banded, the doctor may move them around a bit. I'm almost five months after surgery and my bite still feels off, but definitely better than before surgery. Let us know how your appointment goes. Guest guest
, If you can have particles in your food, I would recommend s or Progresso Chunky style beef or chicken soups. They blend pretty well into a hearty, thick paste. I prefer the beef since the fat gives you added calories and makes you feel fuller. Also, try drinking a table spoon of olive or flax seed oil. the fat is good for you and will help you feel more full. Ensure is great (I drink the one with the added fiber regularly since post op) but they do not really have a lot of calories. The soups will help in this regard. Guest guest
Hi stephnie Believe me i know whatyour going through i had upper lower 3months ago and i think that the hunger problem was a bigger issue for me then any pain which was minimal. You didnt say if you are banded or wired ??? See i was banded so at 2 weeks believe it or not i took out my 2 bands and cut up a chicken burger from Mc donalds into really tiny pieces and dabbed it in mayo and just gulped it down without chewing.!!!! My surgeon couldnt believe it but hell i would have died if i had stayed on a liquid diet. Ohh and about the bite believe me it's normal u just have to get used to the new bite and dont forget your braces are still straightening everything out so you'll just have to be a little pacient. (god i hate the word pacient but i have to say it really does work.) Anyway i hope i helped. Guest guest
Hi Go for taste. I blended fudge - with a little milk. I also loved the mashed potatoes and gravy. add as much milk as you need. I also found I could handle 'spice' although avoid salt for swelling purposes.... I did liquid Jello just mix and don't bother setting. Are you wired? I used to cut my food up really really tiny and get a baby spoon and shovel it in! I got diarreah on blended food big time and never quite felt full. shiloh good luck! > Hello, Im new to this group but its so good to talk to people who > have some idea what Im going through. Guest guest
Hi Bee, I get that sometimes, too. I have to admit, I find it to be very frustrating when I feel like I’m starving and can only eat a few bites, then I get that uncomfortable feeling like the food just doesn’t want to go down (even though I know I’m chewing it well). I wish I knew the reason for it, but I just chalk it up to our bodies being temperamental about food now. Sometimes you can eat more than you think without a problem and sometimes a few bites of anything is too much. I just try to roll with it and listen to my body. I’d also appreciate any comments anyone else out there may have about this issue. - Lesa - hungry Hi all I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this.... I do NOT eat btwn my 3 meals a day. But lately when I sit down to eat I am STARVING and feel like I could eat forever but I actually become full and stopping before I am able to eat my usual 2 oz of protein ad and a few bites of veggies and fruit.... very weird overall....Sometimes it is all I can do to eat my 2 oz of protein. thx Bee
Guest guest
Bee- I had my surgery in May too so, we are close...I get the same thing now, if its been several hours since i have eaten I get that STARVING feeling too but am REALLY full after a few bites...I dont have an answer or any suggestions, just that I know what you mean. And my husband thinks its so funny that I can be STARVING and then have that " I ate too much " feeling in just a few bites. Guest guest
I get that a lot since this past month. Especially when I don't keep up my water intake or exercising. Frequently, if I get thirsty, I'm often hungry. However, I heard that hunger is the body's signal to tell us that we are loosing weight. It is a primitive (instinctual) way that the human body has to preserve itself. If your body is loosing weight, it instinctually thinks that you are starving, thus it is bad. But, that is instinct. So, the hunger is a GOOD signal. You're probably loosing weight We need to use our brains and fight the body's natural reaction. What I do is either drink more water, sometimes I drink one of my high protein drinks like Isopure or take a nibble of a protein bar or small piece of lunchmeat and eat it S-L-O-W-L-Y. Sometimes I try to just resist that hunger feeling until I can go out for a brisk walk. Lucky for me, my exercise & eating routine is working, I've been steadily loosing. --Sandi H.
