Sure hope your " Perfect Omelet Maker " works better than the " Egg-

Wave " I bought - the egg holders exploded in the microwave and egg

went everywhere. Plus, the egg left inside the egg-cups was still

uncooked. You would not believe the mess...I dumped the whole mess

in the trash, including the egg-waves! It does NOT work like on TV!!

Grrrrr...

> I never thought much about protein, I'm still pre op but with all

the info flying around lately I decided to buy myself a Perfect

Omelet Maker from TV! I'm sending the web site for it, keep in mind,

I haven't tried it yet. I am buying it though. Some of the recipes

and ideas they give really look good. They show putting a slice

of bacon right in the omelet, ham, etc. It looks like a good,

easy way to get our protein. (I'm all for easy!). Jodie

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has a problem with feeling

nauseated after drinking protein supps? I take pro-blend55 and

pro-score100. I really don't care for ANY protein supp. but it sure

makes it more difficult when it makes me nauseated. Also, I am one of

the slower loses.....92 lbs in 15 months, but that is OK with me but my

PCP wants me to take one of the new " diet " drugs because he feels I am

not losing enough. I told him NO, NO, NO, I have been there and done

that but he makes me so angry and has never given me one word of

encouragement. He is such a jerk. Sorry, but he really rubs me the

wrong way.

Hugs,

Delphine

I guess I am writing this protein story so that the lurkers

and newbies to the list, as well as those who are more

proximal and think they have it made in the shade regarding

protein, listen up and get copies of your labs and compare

the results from time to time. don't expect your doctor or

surgeon to do this for you. don't think you are sitting

pretty and doing fine when you get the letter or phone call

saying - ya your labs are A OK. they might be - take

warning.

I always get copies of my blood work and compare them from

time to time. this time I compared them over a 1.5yr.

period. my local doctor and my surgeon look at the results

and if they are normal say I'm OK, continue whatever you are

doing. my file is apparently too big or they are too busy

to look up the previous labs and compare.

When I got my bloodwork back a few weeks ago I glanced at

them and they looked fine - the iron looked really good as

did the B12. I could tell my protein had dropped some but

wasn't sure how much as it was now at the lowest number in

the range - 6.4.

eventually I got around to pulling several of the last lab

results and to my surprise my protein had dropped from 7.1 -

mid range - to 6.4 - lowest in just a years time. when I

expressed my concern to my surgeon she said the albumin was

a better indicator of HOW the body was using to protein - so

we checked that. that number too had gone from a 5.0 -

highest number in the range - to 3.9 - damn near the lowest

in the same exact timeframe.

so, much to my frustration I tell you this so that you are

aware and will get copies of your lab work and check it

yourself and pull the previous copies for a year or more and

check them too. I say frustrated but perhaps amazed or

shocked it more like it since I had doubled my protein supp.

intake last aug. prior to surgery and have faithfully

remained at double the amount I had done for the first 2yr.

post op. so now at almost 3yr. post op my protein and

albumin is at an all time low and I have now tripled the

amount of predigested whey protein I consume each day in

supplement form. I am hoping this will help......

apparently I am getting no protein from my food as I eat

chicken, beef, tuna, yogurt, eggs and protein bars often.

and by consuming add'l supplements, even though they are

made with water, I wonder about those extra calories plus it

leaves me less time to eat real food - so maybe there is a

plus and minus or pro and con factor with that.....

although someone did tell me that perhaps my new found

exercise regime was the cause of my protein depletion,

although in looking back for 1.5yr. there has been a steady

decline with two surgeries, even with upping the amount of

protein supps. consumed over the last 10months.

just be knowledgeable and remember that these deficiencies

can strike at any given time. if you don't do labs at least

every 6months you should.

I use Designer Whey Protein, from GNC. It has 17 gms of

protein per scoop. I mix a drink every day with 2 scoops and 1 cup

of fat free milk. That gives me 42 gms of protein. The rest of my

Protein I get in food, Chicken, fish, beans, nuts or whatever. Just

read your food labels. I Take in at least 60 gms of protein a day.

Hope that helps.

Hi ,

This could just be in my case and I would definalty ask your dr about

this...However, For 3 weeks i was on a MAJOR plateau starting at about 6 weeks

out. (seemed longer) But I was not getting in my protein. Yesterday was the 3rd

day that I got my 80+ grams of protein and low and behold the scale is moving

again. I was told that anytime I hit a plateau up the protein and water...it

worked for me...hope it works for you..

also i had a HORRIBLE time finding protein shakes that didnt make me sick. I

bought MYOPLEX ready to drink and LOVE them...and FINALLY a powder that doesnt

make me sick....designer whey...Its actually pretty good also.

Good Luck
