Guest guest
This is a very hard issue. My husband and I both are Type 2. It seems that when our sugars are out of control (pre-diagnosis for me, and whenever he doesn't take meds for him), we lose weight without trying. I lost 30 pounds in the 9 months before being diagnosed last February, I was so happy til I found out why. But as soon as we get our sugars under control, we gain weight and can't seem to do anything about it. I have gained back 20 of the 30 pounds, and he is working on the same 15 pounds back and forth. I have been told that the Glucotrol (which I am on, but hubby is not) will cause you to gain as it has the body making more insulin. In the same token, I have heard that if you take Insulin injections, you will also find you gain weight for the same reason. Something about the extra insulin causes weight gain. We definantly need to get over this problem, as the whole issue here is that if we could just lose the extra weight, then we would not be medication dependant. It is like a vicious cycle. Grrrr. Does anyone have any answers? Guest guest
To loose weight, one must put out more energy than they take in. (i.e.) reduce the calories and exercise. May want to have his thyroid checked?
