Rene' here.

I use Prevacid, I open the capsule and empty it in a glass and pour orange

juice in the glass. Remember you must pour the orange juice in the glass

immediately, to assure that the med does not lose it's potency.

Hope this can help!!

I haven't been posting much lately, but when I get home, hopefully I'll be

able to post more often.

Hope everyone is having a pain free day!

Carmela,

If you are taking the metho, you should take folic acid!!!! Believe me it

helps a lot. I'm on 9 pills a week right now and I'm not having any stomach

problems. As far as the vitamins are concern. I don't take them, I can't

because I take Rocaltrol.

Rocaltrol is a calcium supplement, much more powerful than calcium.

I would like to ask you and anyone else in the group, if their having

problems w/hair loss while taking the metho. My hair is coming out pretty

bad!! Does anyone have any suggestion.

Carmela, My dr told me to take Pepcid AC chewable tablets OTC at 11pm with a

glass of water. I take this with the prevecid which I take in the morning.

It seems to help me. Might want to check with your doctor.

Are you one Methotrexate, I can't remember. The folic acid is taken to go

along with the meth.

Are you feeling better besides the acid reflux? I sure do hope so.

Keep us posted.

Rene, hair loss is a side effect of the methotrexate. Fortunately, I was never

on a high enough dose to loose mine. Hobbs uses Rogaine for men and it

has helped her a lot. She could be more specific with the regime she does and

she uses it or was using it twice a day. I'm sure she'll give her input on the

Rogaine. Good luck.

Carmela,

I take Tetralac. It works really fast. The are pills about the size of an

asprin and you can chew them or just swallow them. I got to where I hated

the sight of Tums and one of my friends told me about the Tetralac. I

couldn't believe how fast they worked.

Rene', and we are happy to have you too. You bring so much into the group.

We have all been where you are today. ( and that's normal, if you can

consider any of us normal.lol) Don't feel guilty about the way you feel. I

find when I get like this, I just go with it. Let the crying out, the

yelling and all the frustrations go. I know you don't get instant relief,

but it does help. Please don't ever hesitate to tell us how you are feeling.

This is why we are all here. You know that we all love you and will do

anything to help you through the bad times, just as you are there for us. It

will be brighter, maybe tomorrow or the next day, but it does get better.

You're in my thoughts as always.

love & a REALLY BIG HUG

Rene,

I am having hair loss. My Rheumy said it is from the Metho also. He

suggested lowering my dose but I said no. I'm having

some improvements and I'd rather have less hair and feel better so I see it

as a tradeoff.

Hugs,

Sandy

Hi

Well, this is my latest update... I saw my GYN today for an annual check

up... can you imagine that to have the result of a pap smear it's a 12 week

wait if sent to the hospital... but if I bring the papsmear to a lab next

door for $40 I can have the result in 24 hrs... so I paid the $40....:o/

anyway, my GYN now knows about my recent illness and told me to take

Citracal-D, apparently it's easier on the tummy and easily absorbed into the

GI system... I'll be trying that, plus the pepcid AC... But on Thur I'll be

seeing my GP to have my salary insurance form filled out to continue one

more month of progressive return to work... so I'll be asking her about the

Prevacid... and perhaps vitamins in general, I'm hoping it'll help with the

fatigue I've been feeling, also due to anemia, which I've had for a long

time now...

On Monday I have my colonoscopy, which I'm not looking forward to, but it

has to be done... then I'll know why I bleed with almost every BM I

have...and that is what is probably causing my anemia too,... but it's the

preparation for the test I'm not looking forward to... I won't be able to

eat the whole day before and with the prednisone making me stir crazy to

eat, I have no idea how I'm gonna cope... I'll just have to take it easy and

rest and pray...

so far, that's it... I have other appointments later on with a hematologist

to review and check my anemia, but that's in Sept... I have another rheumy

appt on Sept 5, just for a follow-up visit.. I should be down to 50 mg of

pred by then... other than that I'm feeling fine, except the occasional

feeling of depression and crazy hunger...... ok, I'm rambling....sigh..

love you all

Carmela

Hi

yep, that's what it's come to... and the $40 is only for the testing, I

brought it over, because it's just the next building over and the doctor's

office doesn't deliver... if you want the result pronto, you bring it

yourself... it's just an extra service they provide if you don't want to

wait the 12 wks through the hospital labs...

If I'm feeling up to it, I will take you up on the chat on Sunday, I'll let

you know....

I'm truly not looking forward to Sun/Mon... I'm worried I'm gonna get sick

and throw up...if I don't eat, I get hunger pangs and feel nauseous... plus

I have to drink that fleet thingy twice, ugh!!!

I use to take iron for the longest time because the doctor thought I was

anemic due to heavy periods, but even while on iron, i was borderline anemic

but my body wasn't using the iron properly... they even thought I had

Thalassemia (sp?) or pernicious anemia, I don't have either apparently, but

may be a carrier... the hematologist will explain all this to me when I see

him in Sept. I think I may have internal hemmies as well due to being

constipated for such a long period of time, even Colace and roughage

wouldn't help very much...

Ever since I got sick in May, I stopped taking iron because I thought the

pain on my side was perhaps due to the iron and iron stores in my system or

a colon blockage or something, but that was not the case, but once I

noticed the bleeding I just stopped taking it altogether, because it would

constipate me and make things worse...now i just feel tired, but not that

much more than when I was taking the iron. go figure!!

anyway, thanks for the offer for the chat... I'll let you know...

I'm thinking of you also, you are in my prayers and thoughts

love you to bits
