I have the same problem with eggs. i cannot eat them. They make me feel queesy

and make me throw up. Yucky.

Dumping on almost everything?

I seem to dump on things I shouldn't... Dr. Stiles of my program said I have

extreme dumping syndrome. I am wondering if anyone else is like this. I

dumped on an egg (fried in a pan with no oil or butter, just the egg on

teflon)

and less than a tablespoon of feta cheese, and a sprinkle of salt. I became

flushed, broke out in a light sweat, and had to run to the bathroom within 10

minutes of eating. My abdomen felt crampy and I had diarrhea. I also dump on

protein powder mixed with light soy milk. I usually dump on no matter what I

eat for breakfast. It's frustrating. My mega-multi vitamin makes my pouche

ache

and makes me feel queasy until it dissolves and goes through the hole.

Everytime I eat I feel rotten after for 30 to 45 minutes, and I feel tired

after

eating. My Bariatric Advantage calcium makes me want to puke. It's harder and

harder to choke them down. Sometimes water tastes great at different times of

the day, and other times it makes me feel sick. Sometimes Crystal Light

tastes good, other times it tastes nasty (same flavor, at different times of

the

same day.) I now hate Designer Whey protein. I got GNC's Pro Performance

Liquid Protein, which is like a fruit punch flavor cough syrup. 3 T=18 grams

whey

protein. I hate it more and more each time I eat it. Protein shakes run

right through me, coming out the other end in the exact same liquid

consistancy.

I have been 258 for 3 or 4 days now. I hit the 2 week plateau.

My medical alert bracelet arrived today. It's pretty comfortable.

I do have the Bariatric Advantage lozenges. I have mint flavor and

chocolate. I hate both flavors. LOL. They make me want to gag. Dr. Stiles said

that a

lot of people would envy me because I have dumping. She said it gets better

and it usually takes about 6 months. I don't throw up. It's just that most

things taste gross and make me feel like I MIGHT throw up.

Sorry you're having problems Dana!! I have to watch the fat in stuff or

it makes me dump. The first day I took my vitamins I took them all at

once. That was a mistake. I got queasy feeling. Sweaty. Had to lay

down. So, now I take them throughout the day. I take a calcium

chewable from Kroger. Flintstone multi-vitamin. I got my iron & b12

from bariatric eating. I haven't tried a fried egg. It was on my list

as a no-no. Don't know why. I don't like them fried so I didn't

question it. I eat mine scrambled w/ fat free american cheese. Have

you tried your protein shake w/ water or skim milk? I tried sugar free

soy milk and it makes flushed as well. I just stuck to using water.

Hi Dana

Soy milk can be touchy. Maybe the whey protein shake is not good for you,

my understanding is that whey is a dairy base product. Perhaps that has

something to do with it. Eggs are a touchy thing. Try making an omelet and see

how you take that. You may be already doing this but make sure you are careful

how much you are taking in at once. I dumped off and on for the first couple of

months because I was eating with old habits and well, the pouch was teaching me

that it's a no no to eat too fast or too much. I hope some of this helps.

I did a shake this morning and used water and ice cubes instead of light soy

milk, and I didn't dump. Thank you for the tip! It still didn't taste very

good, but at least it didn't make me sick and give me the runs.

I am glad that helped. I use water and ice cubes too, no soy milk, I tried that

once, it wasn't a great idea. You can get flavoring (sugar free) Devinci syrups

in the coffee isle that will help spruce that up. I use yogurt too and added

fruit. Try some new recipies, we have a file in the files section of our home

page. Hope that helps

Here in Australia we do not have to take protein shakes at all. I asked my

surgeon about that and he says it is not necessary. But I suppose here in

Australia the doctors do things differently.

,

At my three month appointment my doctor/dietician said no more

protein drinks, yogurt smoothies, clear or thin soups, any liquids

with calories basically. The reason, they said, was that you will get

the calories but you won't feel as satisfied or full later and just

eat more. I guess that makes sense. It's not all that hard to get

protein in if you find some select foods with a massive amount of

protein in them and mix it up a bit.

I had the same problem with eggs for 2 months, after that, I was able to eat

them with no problems. I alos had the same problem with tastes. EVERYTHING

that I loved before surgery was nasty afterwards, even cyrstal light! But

that went away after about a month.

Keep your head up and best wishes to you!

I found some strawberries in the bottom of the freezer when putting

stuff in the new freezer. I saw a recipe on the splenda website for

strawberry jam! Only 5 calories. I'm SOOOOOOOO making me some! I have

about 10 containers of strawberry jam I'd made pre-surgery that I can't

eat now. It's my fave!

I've saw the sugar free in the grocery store. Homemade is just so much

better tho. And you know what's going into it. And it's easy to make.

You could do it! :-)

Dana,

For most of my life, eggs have made me sick, I haven't been able to

take vitamins except for before bed or I would get sick from them,

and I have been extremely lactose intolerant. I am almost three weeks

out from RNY, and I still haven't experienced dumping officially.

But, if I get any lactose (which is in just about every whey protein

supplement), I get my usual reaction which includes gas, bloating,

shakiness, sweating, intestinal cramping and diarrhea. Maybe that is

the same as dumping but I have been doing it my whole life, so I am

just very used to it. If the eggs bothered you, try it again without

the Feta cheese. Try to stay away from anything with dairy, whey,

lactose, or overly processed foods and see if that helps. Many people

develop lactose intolerance after the surgery, although it often goes

away over time. Lactose is milk sugar, so it would definitely be a

possibility to look at.

Hope that gives you a little food for thought.
