Guest guest
Hi! I have not " crossed over yet " but will on Feb 3/04. I too live in Minnesota, where do you live? I live in St. . I am only a year younger than you, (42), and so far starting out at 310# pre-op. I know how ou feel. Everytime I read about a death or complications, I start 2nd guessing myself. Now, I have decided that this surgery will give me an opportunity to start a new life. I have been heavy all my life, I don't know what it's like to be thin, or not obese. I have only one co-morbidity and that is severe sleep apnea, which was diagnosed 4 years ago and I have been sleeping with a Bi-level CPAP everynight since. I can't wait to get rid of it! To shut it off for good. I think about my 8 year old son, who want's me to play ball with him, and do other " active things " that I can't do right now because it's physically impossible. What a blessing to me it would be to take advantage of this tool. I have not doubt in my mind, I will go through with it. If you need to research more, obesity.com is a big help. If you need any help, I'm just an " e-mail " away. Guest guest
Hi Gail, Welcome to the family! Please don't be scared. You are lucky to be diagnosed now. The best thing you can do is to be proactive in your treatment and fight this illness hard. It has been beaten and can be again. Don't be a victim. The main problem with many people on this list is that they were misdiagnosed or mistreated with long doses of prednisone for so long that by the time they had a chance to fight against this illness, they were fighting secondary conditions also, so now they fight to reclaim their lives harder. You won't be like that. Just learn to take no crap from a doctor, learn that you are the boss, and find the treatment plan that works for you. We are all here to support you on your journey to health again. Once again welcome, Aisha. -- Hello Everyone Hello Everyone, I'm new to this group and this is my first post. I haven't been formally diagnosed with NS yet but I'm having a bronchoscopy and mediastinoscopy with biopsy tomorrow. Hopefully, after that the docs will know for sure and start me on treatment. I've been having problems since August '03. First, it was joints - ankles and wrists. The rheumatologist told me it was RA. Then in November, the neuro part started. First, it was numbness and tingling in my face and head. Then the numbness went to my torso and legs. An MRI showed demylination, so then the neurologist thought it was MS. After a multitude of negative blood work and lumbar puncture, something finally showed up on a chest X-ray in December. The neurologist referred me to chest specialist who ordered a CT scan and the biopsy. The radiologist reporting the CT told me it looked like sarcoid and the chest doc is sure that it's neurosarcoid but won't treat me until he gets the results of the biopsy. So, here I am. I've enjoyed reading your e-mails but to tell the truth, they really scare me. My mother had Alzheimer's before she died and the thought of losing my memory is not vey appealing. Anyway, I've rambled on long enough. Thanks for listening, Gail
