Guest guest
Hi All, I am Lori, 's Mom. She had her 2 jaw surgery on Tuesday and we brought her home yesterday afternoon. The sugery went very well, but she is having problems with her stomach burning, no matter what she puts into it. Of course right now she isn't putting much in, just water, apple juice, antibiotic, and her pain medication. Does anybody have any suggestions on helping to ease that burning feeling she's having? It's been a very difficult 4 days for her so far, and I know that as soon as she is up to it, she will be here talking to her " friends " in this group for support ~ you have been a lifesaver to her as she's been preparing for this. Thanks for the help! Lori
Guest guest
Totally uninformed response here, but have you tried any kind of antacid? There are liquids, such as Maalox, Gaviscon (my favorite, because I don't think it's so chalky) or even a mild solution of baking soda. I don't know that these are good ideas, but a burning tummy won't be soothed by juices and clear liquids. If she's nauseated, you may be in a different ballpark. It never hurts to call the surgeon, even on a weekend. If you get another doc who's taking the calls, ask. That's why they have people cover for them, because they know their patients may need help.
