She says it's getting better with Motrin, but she uses a walker to pull herself out of the recliner, & sits in Mother's wheelchair because it's easier to get up from that than a soft chair. She's still taking care of Mother! Good news: had a call yesterday from the respite care people. A nurse will visit to do an evaluation in about 2 weeks, then hopefully, in another 2 weeks, will have help 4 hours a week. Cause for concern? One night, someone knocked on their front door at 11 PM, but couldn't see anyone, so we hope it was a prank. Yesterday, 5 PM, lights on, curtains open, someone opened a storm door & either knocked lightly or tried to open the door to the house. I know there's nothing I can do. I just call daily to be sure they're still alive & listen. Tell to call the police and ask them to do "welfare drive-bys" since they are oler and alone. I know when I was at 911 we had a list of those that we did nightly on rounds. Hang in there. Sometimes I think it's harder when they're farther away and the "lack of control" that you have can eat away at you.
