Guest guest
Bob Heath, the fellow that left for China on Aug 8th for transplantation of stem cell sent the following to the living-with-als group. " This is Bob, and I am currently in China. I had the OEC cell surgery performed by Dr. Huang four days ago. One of Dr. Haung assistants, Dr. Liu Chao prepares the OEC cells for Dr. Haung, and I believe he is one of the doctors learning the technique from Dr. Huang. Dr. Liu is the person who has made most of the arrangements for my surgery here, scheduling, transportation, etc. He is the person who set's up the surgery for Dr. Huang. I know everyone is curious to know of my results, but it has only been four days since surgery, however I can tell you this much so far: My twitching has stopped, my neck is stronger, and speech and swallowing have improved. I think recovery of muscle mass will depend upon exercise, and will take several weeks to several months to determine the degree of success can be obtained, you know the drill. It is encouraging though, as I sense something is happening inside me that I can't quite explain, but I think it is a good thing. Time will tell. Dr. Liu " s email address is : liuchao696@... Guest guest
Thanks Arlene -- major interesting....just hope the new cells continue to live. I'm glad he is keeping the group posted and that you fwd his email. I just can't wait to hear the stem cell speakers at TeamWalk. Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Guest guest
Arlene, I find that very interesting, I would say its a miracle at what he has regained already. I hope and pray that he continues to respond. Please keep us updated. May there be a cure some day soon.
