Guest guest
Hi June, My PLS started in the top and is moving down. So, I don't use a wheelchair or walker and can walk okay right now. My speech and swallowing are terrible; however, with the right medication I can talk better now (slower but better) than I have in the past several months. It is much clearer than before. And, with everything, there are good days and bad days. Speech and swallowing are much more difficult when I'm tired. Hope this helps. I just wanted to ask any of you the following questions: Are any of you in a wheelchair all day? Do you have therapy 3 times a week at home? Has your legs " jumped " steady for 3 days without sleeping? And what do you take or do when it goes on that long? And the last question for all of you: Has your speech gotten worse to the point that others cannot understand what you are saying or are there good days and bad days for the speech or does the medication affect the speech? My husband Charlie has 6 crowns in his mouth and the crowns have been coming off and the dentist has reglued them or something and they still are coming off, so now he wants to pull 6 teeth and put in a whole upper plate and I was wondering do you think it will affect his condition to go thru the extraction of the six teeth and put the upper denture in. Please let me know all you good sweet people out there. June bug
Guest guest
Hi June, I have varying speech. It goes from being almost normal to barely understandable. It all depends on how I'm feeling, how much sleep I get, etc. I don't see it getting worse though, thank goodness! Thomson
Guest guest
Hey there June, I dont have a lot of problems with my speach, only when I am tired or try to raise my voice. I used to have problems sleeping too, but now I sleep all night until my dogs wake me up to go potty. I take 4 baclofen, 3 Trazadone, 1 Neurotin, and smoke a little medical marijuanna at bed time. Since I started the Neurotin and med marijuana I get a real restful sleep. My hubby has been having a hard time sleeping lately and they are going to put him through a sleep study to try to figure things out, that might be an option for Charlie too. Your poor Charlie and your self have been through so much. My prayers are with you. Sandy Do any of ya'll fall into this category - from June bug Hi this is June in Tallahassee, Fl.
