Guest guest Posted October 24, 2004 Report Share Posted October 24, 2004 The 300-500 figure is based on the belief that PLS represents 1% of the ALS population- so 30,000 ALS patients equals 300 PLS. The higher number is given to allow for " wiggle room " with the differing survival rates between PLS and ALS.
