Hey, Congratz Antie Georgie!

The Big Bobser

This is completely off the topic, but I think that good news is welcome anytime, anywhere. I am a great-aunt!!! Chris's nephew and his wife Joanne have a little boy, born this morning. He was 3 weeks early and still weighed 7lb 4oz, and Jo had a caesar because the babe was breech and Jo has had lots of fluid problems. told me the news when he picked me up from the hospital, where I'd had 2 1/2 hours of #$%@#)(* MRI without so much as a Panadol to help. I'd rather have an MRI than a baby though!

Congratulations Great-Aunty,

Perhaps that's what I'll keep in mind when having my next MRI's. Considering that my first child took 36 hrs - the MRI's (head & spine) is definitely preferable, scary but painless.

Well

strictly speaking this is not related to nf2 in any way but if you're in

the mood for a bit of good news, read on.I

have two girls, Katrina who is nearly 13 and Madel who is nearly 12.

They are both bright sparks, according to their fond parents and their

school results. Anyway, we being flat broke as usual, Madel was all

set to start high school in January at the local state school where Katrina

goes. Well guess what - she isn't going. Go on, ask why not.

All right, I'll tell you. There is a wonderful private school (I'm

not sure what you call them in foreign parts, but private schools are not

government-run and parents pay the fees) nearby called Penleigh And Essendon

Grammar, and it is The school to go to on this side of Melbourne - rated

in the top 5 schools in Melbourne. My Miss Smarty-Britches has won

a scholarship for the 6 years of her secondary education!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She sat the scholarship exam 3 weeks ago and on Friday we got a phone call

asking all of us to appear on Monday afternoon for an interview.

We thought she had just made it to the weeding out stage and there would

still be 30 or 40 girls in the running. Well we got to the office

and had a chat about the school, and then we nearly fell over when the

principal offered her a 75% scholarship on the spot. It seems Madel's

creative writing was outstanding, grammar, syntax, spelling and punctuation

perfect, mathematics exceptional, general knowledge amazing and everything

else was just excellent. and I still need to pay 25% of the

fee but we can manage that. Form 1 fees are just under the $AU10,000

per year and they increase as you go up the school. Please

excuse my rambling, but as you might have guessed I am so incredibly proud

of my girl. There were over 200 girls trying for this one spot and

some of them had had special coaching for the exam, and Madels just walked

in and did it. Informal testing puts her IQ at 138 so she is bright,

even more so than Katrina who wouldn't go to Penleigh or any other big

school if you paid her.Don't

you just love it when the good guys win?Georgia,

VERY proud and happy.
