Guest guest
Hi Theresa! I am sorry to say that I am not sure what to do about this problem. I too suffered from this prior to surgery and still do. I can't stand that feeling. I hope Dr R responds to this. I have a Dr's appointment tommorrow to check my levels for my own sanity. I feel great most of the time, but usually by the end of the day I am so tired that I hardly have the energy to deal with my little girls. That is part of the reason that I lost my job. According to them I was out too much. I just was NOT feeling well for quite a while. The gatorade etc has helped SOME, but I am still tired a lot. That is why I want to have some bloodwork done. Love & Hugs, C ----Original Message Follows---- Reply-To: MiniGastricBypassonelist To: MiniGastricBypassonelist Subject: Need help from Dr R and anyone else that can help me.. Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2000 12:54:49 EST Hi Everyone.. I have a question for all of you.. I think I asked this question once before but never got a clear answer... I have never been diagnosed with hypo/hyperglycemia but, when i don't eat something for a while or keep something on my stomach every few hours my sugar level drops so much that I start shaking really bad, to the point I can't even take care of my son until I eat something, and get nauseaus almost to the point of vomiting... Has anyone had this problem before sugery and if so, how did you handle it afterwards? This is the only thing that really scares me.. I can't imagine my sugar evels staying normal when I'm taking in even less food... Thanks for any help you can give me... In my thoughts and prayers, Terri ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PERFORM CPR ON YOUR APR! Guest guest
Theresa, Low blood sugar does give you the shakes and a very lousy feeling. However it should not be a problem after the MGB. You are supposed to eat 6 times a day. That will keep something in you. Do the same thing you do now. Drink some orange juice when the blood sugars drop. If you are doing all the things the good doctor tells you too like eating yogart, drinking juice you should have very little problems. This is just my personnel feelings. I am still a MGB hopeful myself, but I would not let low blood sugar stop me from having a new shot at life. Go for it! {{HUGS}} Janet

Guest guest
I usually don't keep orange juice in the house.. But, I did get some gloucose tablets as a freebie in the mail <gotta love those freebie sites!> and they seems to help a lot.. Wonder if I would still be able to use them if needed after the surgery? Luckily the only time I really seem to need them is if we are out somewhere and can't stop to get something to eat/drink... If I am home I can easily eat something... Guest guest
Hi .. The only time I was checked for diabetes was when I was pregnant with my son.. He's 14 months now so, it's been almost a year and 1/2.. They did 4 different tests on me but, i absolutely refused the GTT... After begging them to allow me to eat something normal for breakfast and then have them check my levels they said yes.. out of all four tests only one came up high and that was the one where i fasted completely.. They told me i was gestational diabetic but, I did not believe they could get that when 3 other tests came out with normal levels.. Even the one where I ate only an hour or so before the test... Of course, in this time, my body could have changed... I've gained 40 Lbs <although I went to my midwife yesterday and actually lost a whole pound.. MUCH better than gaining!!!> since my son was born... I would never suggest Depo Provera to ANYONE!!!! I have to go back to her in about a month.. Maybe I will see if she can test me again.. Hmm.. Might help me with insurance... Horrible thought, I know.... In my thoughts and prayers, Terri >Theresa, > >I am Diabetic and that is EXACTLY what happens to me when my blood sugar >drops.
