Guest guest
Hi Lori, I saw my Gynecologist on Thursday and we talked about the sweating and he says mine is definitely not hormonal but the RSD because of the pattern of sweating. My skin gets so hot you can feel the heat without touching me. I think that is why I am so cold when it is over. I get so wet and then so cold and damp. I am getting tired of having to change clothes several times a day. I know have a blanket in the truck plus a towel or roll of paper towels. The worst is when I am in a store, like Wal Mart, and the sweat starts. It is so awful to feel it running down your legs and of course my whole chest area gets so wet that if I don't wear a pattern in my clothing that is distracting you can see that I am wet. I think I would settle for underarm wet rings rather than have my whole chest and breast area of my clothes soaking wet while checking out at the register. I have had people ask me if I need to go to the bathroom! How do you respond to that? My glasses fog up too! I can't wait to go back to contact lenses, at least I don't think they would fog up? I had these awful sweats when I first got RSD and then they eased up after a few years. However, the Anodyne treatments that we tried on my foot in April seems to have brought them roaring back. I don't know why except that the treatments really hurt and kick up the RSD to another level. My new pain doc has some doubts as to whether I have RSD because of the temperature of my legs when he has felt them. However, I don't know any other disease , other than RSD, that brings on these sweats, and of course the swelling and color changes and the burning pain are all there. I am keeping a list of symptoms to talk to him about so that he will have this to think about when he finally decides what I have. His nurses think that it is definitely RSD and this doctor actually listens to his nurses and even asks them their opinions! Now that is a rephrasing change. Guest guest
Felice, I had the same problem when the doctors were trying to diagnose me because at that time my knee was always hot and red. I know what you mean about not having to touch it to feel the heat - my knee was the exact same way. Sometimes it would be light red and within 10 minutes it would get hot enough to fry an egg on and get lobster red, all for no apparent reason. If still does this but in between it is now purplish and molten the way they usually describe RSD. I went to one doc as I'm trying to find a new neurologist and my knee was lobster and hot that day and he doubted that I had RSD. I went again a few weeks later and it was purple and he then agreed that I had it. In the book I have it explains it well, I think anyway, it says that any drastic temperature change is a sign of RSD, whether it is extreme hot or cold. That makes much more sense to me. I get the same thing with the sweat rolling down and my shirts being wet. I might just go to the store 5 minutes away and sweat so much on the way home I have to change when I get here. I can't stand it either! Contacts don't fog btw...lol...but they tend to sting if sweat rolls into your eyes. I rarely wear makeup right now because if that melts into your eyes it stings so bad!! Anyway, I hope you are feeling well, going to take a break...I'll talk to you soon. = ) <hugs> Lori

Guest guest
Hi Stacey, I don't know about anyone else but the only place I don't sweat is under my arms! I lost all the hair there when I got RSD and I don't know why but rarely sweat there. Felice
Guest guest
Felice, I get the sweats that way too.....and my shirts get totally soaked from it. I've had the sweats get worse though this past 2 years. Is this doctor just using his hands to feel your legs? if so, tell him to use those temperature strips that stick to your legs. They work SO MUCH better!!! You can buy them OTC for foreheads, but I found out that they work great also for telling the temp differences in my legs. When I went to Chicago to first get Diagnosed, that is what they used out there to tell the temp differences....they stuck those little strips on my legs where I told them that my right one was the coldest feeling. And, they could actually see by doing that, that my right leg's temperature was 4 degree's different than my left. Now, NO doctor can tell That by just touching the limb! Guest guest
Hi Tonia, That is about how my sweat pattern is too. I can't believe the amount of sweat that comes out of my hair! And my chest actually has a pool of sweat on it if I am laying down when it starts. Felice
Guest guest
> The redness in your face, hot skin, sweats etc may have nothing to do with meds. RSD is affecting the nervous system, and the Autonomic Nervous System controls these things too. > > I'm not taking much in the way of meds so I doubt that it would be a med interaction anyway. Today has been a miserable enough day to wish I was taking something though. My skin hurts to even have a light wind blow across it and to touch it..forget about that! I'm not due for anymore injections until at least after I see the dr next friday then I wait to be approved again. *sigh* good day to just curl up with a good book I believe lol Many hugs Donna

Felice ===================================== That is the one thing I really hate.....having my hair sopping wet every single morning when I wake up, and during the day, it'll look like I just got out of the shower with my hair washed....when it's really caused by me sweating so badly! I'm going to get something done with my hair tomorrow.....I want it to grow out really bad....but, considering how bad I sweat and all, I'm debating on whether I should just go and get it all cut off again like I had it last summer. Right now, it's just below my shoulders...where if you move just right, it gets down inside the collar of the shirt and annoys ya? I hate it being this length....but, if I want it long, then I will have to put up with this lenth for another 6-10 months (which is how long it will take for it to grow past this spot), or, get it cut off and start all over again..... I dunno. I'll probably go and just get it all cut off so that it's just below my ears again. That way, it doesn't look stringy and greasy constantly, and, Gene won't have to put up with my ponytails that I constantly have my hair in....
