Guest guest
Good Afternoon All, I hope this message finds all having a relaxing 4th of July, with reduced pain levels. Faith posted a message last night asking anyone that has lost doctors to contact Rhonda. I have a little more information so I thought I should share that. It is not only the people without insurance that her doctor has dropped as patients. They are the cash paying patients that are only receiving maintenance pain medications. It seems that the doctor believes that if there is no further procedures that can be performed, then they do not want to see the patients, or provide them with maintenance pain medications. The letter that Rhonda received when she went to her appointment mentioned that the doctor would no longer write prescriptions for any medication at all, that are needed by the patients. I am going to try to sum it up for everyone to understand, and if I fail write me back any questions that you may have. The doctor is dropping all patients that do not have health insurance when the only treatment being provided is the writing of any form of prescriptions. The doctor's office has told Rhonda that they provided a prescription for the 30 period after providing her with the notice. Rhonda is contacting legal services to see if there is anything that can be done. She has an appointment with another doctor, so hopefully she will not have any period of time without care. Thanks to all of you that have supported both Rhonda and I through all of this chaotic nightmare of the last couple of weeks. I know that it was very special to me to have your support and prayers, and I know Rhonda appreciates it as well. Have a Happy 4th Everyone!!! Guest guest
Mark - I wonder what the reasoning is behind their decision. COuld it be the "cover your butt" kind of thing that's going on with docs worrying about prescribing pain medications? In any event, it's pretty rotten......"I have no cure or treatment for you therefore I'm just gonna let you sit there and hurt. Good luck." Garbage. Guest guest
I've heard of doctor's dropping "maintence" patients due to lack of money because the Insurance companies not wanting to pay what the doctor's normally charge....but to drop cash paying patients? that doesn't make any sense unless he's afraid that the DEA is going to start checking him and his records out because he's writing out too many Class 1 and 2 Drug Prescriptions. If I was Rhonda, I'd check and see if he's been written up or checked by the DEA before......because it sounds like they are right on that Doctor's doorstep! I think that may be the case. I know he does prescribe a lot of meds like I am on. I dont get that much but I do know people who get what I consider way too many. If that is the case, I hope to find a better doc who understands that I have remained on the same dose for almost 3yrs without ever asking for anything more. I have told my doctor that I am smart enough to be afraid of my own meds and I know this is for life. I am going to recommend to my new doctor that he have in his contract a " Pill Count " randomly done. They could call and tell you to bring in your pills within 2hrs and do a count. That would not only weed out the abusers but also the sellers. If you are only 2/4 off, that wouldnt get you in trouble but it would definately weed out the riff raff. If this may be what you are speaking of, I wonder why every single pain doctor I called no longer accepts patients without insurance only in Louisville, KY. I have found a doctor closer to me in my state of IN who finished his name before I could get it out and is taking over many of his patients. Read what my doc did to me and see if that makes any sense to you. Thanks, Rhonda > Tonia
