Guest guest
I eat cereal, but not like I used to. I eat mainly whole 7 grain cooked cereal now. You need to read the labels and see how many carbs there are--some just are not worth it for the small amount they consider a serving. Raisin bran is a good example. 50 plus carbs BEFORE milk! I don't have a problem with my cooked cereal, but remember everyone is different and I tested ALOT of cereals before this one. Fawnee CLD wrote: Do any of you eat cereal? Hi Sussie, I eat cereal several mornings a week. I like the steel cut oats, old fashioned oatmeal. Some mornings, I have the Special K. I do get this in the low carb. My favorite is the Kashi Good Friends, but the stores in this area stopped carrying it for some reason. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
likes Kashi Go Lean Crunch. He sprinkles cinnamin on it and eats a boiled egg too. This works for him and sticks with him for longer than other cereals. Gwen in FL SAHM to 6yo , 3yo & 1yo Audrey

That's a strange combo. But then re-read the message and it's the cereal, which makes more sense! gail
Guest guest
Hi Cappie, I got a 4.8 once but can't seem to duplicate that, LOL. I am usually in the mid-5's. Lately it seems that it's harder to get good numbers. And, like you, I'm trying to lose a little weight. I lost 25 pounds and had kept it off for 4-5 years, but lately I've gained five of that back. I guess I've been eating more and exercising less. It doesn't seem as though it would be so hard to lose a measly five pounds, but I'm having an awful time doing it. I know that if I let that five pounds stay, pretty soon it'll be another five, and so on. If you remember, I have bird legs like you, also skinny arms, so all the weight I gain is around my middle. I have no excuse for being lax with exercise except old age and laziness. I'm trying to do better. Guest guest
I never ever liked to exercise but diabetes made me do it <g>...I find a good book on tape is a great motivator. My library has a good selection and I've made a rule that I ONLY listen to the book when I'm exercising. I'm a daily walker -- mall during the winter, neighborhood walks in spring/summer/fall. If it's an especially good book, I may walk longer. I go first thing in the morning before I get into whatever it is I'm doing that day...if I don't do it first thing in the morning somehow other things intervene and it just doesn't happen. My routine: breakfast...get dressed ...check email...leave for mall, do walk. Listen to book on tape. Then I've gotten the exercise out of the way for the day...and listened to a good book, besides that. Vicki Re: cereal > > Hi Cappie, I got a 4.8 once but can't seem to duplicate that, LOL. Guest guest
I stuck to my exercise program pretty well when I did it first thing in the morning when I got up. But it makes my BG go UP instead of DOWN when I do it then. Breakfast afterward makes it go up even higher. I became concerned about that, and decided to change the time I exercise. I'm still trying to re-train myself to do it later on. As you say, other things sometimes intervene. Sue > > My routine: breakfast...get dressed ...check email...leave for mall, do > walk. Guest guest
Sue: I once had a 4.3 but that was from loss of blood after my hysterectomy last March--didn't count! Yeah -- if I could exercise I'd be able to eat a little more but hey I am lucky to be walking so whose complaining? cappie Greater Boston Area T-2 10/02 9/04 A1c: 5.3 max 100 carb diet, walking, Metformin.
