Guest guest
GREAT NEWS, LAEN!!! HOORAY!!! And Congratulations. Sounds as though you're doing really, really well. As you know, I had lower only. My splint stayed in for seven weeks. Take care... How long you gonna be wired? Guest guest
Thanks Cammie! It's some acomplishment for me ;-) My surgeon didn't say exactly, but told that before Christmas I would be able to open my mouth. My ortho, who is the one that takes the lead almost always, told me to expect only 10-15 of wiring, as I had had only upper and the movements had been pretty simple and clean. My next appointment would be 8 days post-op, so I know it's a bit soon, but maybe I'm lucky ;-) *laen* taking a walk on the other side
Guest guest
Well, as I figure it, " by Christmas " is a lot shorter than 7 weeks, and I know that if I can do it, you can do it. Course, I wasn't wired. Only my splint was! I'll cross my fingers for you! Cammie > Thanks Cammie! Guest guest
Hi Laen! Welcome to the other side! You're through the worst of it and well into the fun stuff by now. Did the hospital offer you a discount for giving up your early surgery time? : ) Take it easy and relax!
Guest guest
Laen, Congrats!! I am going to have upper jaw advancement about 5mm as well. Hearing your experience makes me less apprehensive. Hope you continue to feel better!! > Hi everyone! > > First of all I want to thank you all for everything! > > I'm 4 days post-op and feeling fine... Guest guest
Hi Laen! I am glad to see your post. I was waiting to see how everything went for you. I am glad you are doing well. It sounds like you'll have a speedy recovery, especially with having just the upper done. I am sure you don't look bad at all with your swelling. You are going to be so pleased with your results when the swelling goes away, you had a nice face before so. I think Cheryl had only upper but, can't remember if she wore a splint or not? Hope you are doing really well, > Hi everyone! > > First of all I want to thank you all for everything! > > I'm 4 days post-op and feeling fine... Guest guest
Hey Lean welcome to the other side!!!! I had upper lower 2 months ago and i swear at 4 days i was still dead tierd, so i think your recovering pretty fast seeing you could write this so soon.Thats great. I was vary similar in measurements with the top jaw going forward and bottom going back. However i wasn't wired or banded straight after surgery until the second day which i only had two bands on the surgical hooks. Believe me it's great that your thinking of looks because after surgery i went home looking like a chip munk/ piggy (with the nose being stuck up) and every week i'd change and now i am so oooooooooooooo happy with the results!!!! Is'nt it great to have the top jaw in front of the bottom, i had a mirror next to my table and would constantly look at it to see and make sure the top jaw would stay that way and not go back to how it was!!!!!LOL i thought i was dreaming! Anyway i hope your doing great and believe me in about 3 weeks your swelling will start going down very quickly and so will the nose!!! I think now you are at your peak of swelling. Get well soon and tell me how you'r going. Take care AMy _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
Hi ! Glad to hear from you! How do you do amongst all those top models? ;- ) My swelling doesn't look too bad, I look kind of cute. But I would rather look like a human being instead of looking like a cute cartoon. Anyway, I have the patience to wait for the swelling to go down, so no problem there :-) Take care! *laen*
Guest guest
Hi Amy, Yeah, I think I'm having a fast recovery, anyway, it's easier to recover from only upper... if I had had both upper and lower maybe I would still be dead tired too ;-) It doesn't seem usual to have a splint and be wired when you only have upper, but I came across a conservative surgeon that prefers not to take any chances... I guess it's better safe than sorry. Today I just had my splint removed... it's such a great sensation! Being able to talk and moving my tongue around and touching my teeth, the upper in front of the lower, that's new for me! I hope you are rigth and my swelling will pretty soon start to go down. I'm not terribly bothered by it anyway, as I know it will eventually go down. I don't know yet how my face is going to turn out, though I have a clearer idea each day, but I hope to as pleased with the results as you ;-) Take care! *laen*
