Guest guest
Kidney stones. What kind of calcium is he taking? No iced tea or caffeine or carbonation, right? Diverticulosis is nasty. I have that condition. Only one flare-up with the " itis " version, but it was like a gas pain, in front of left hip, but it didn't let up. Waxed & waned, but never left til I took the antibiotic and that cleared it up quickly. If they're not gonna test, why not just give him $10 worth of flagyl and try it? Gads, I take 1000mg a day of the stuff. Guest guest
My dad didn't even know he had it til he was leaking. Kept coming back anemia, occult blood, but WHERE? Yep, they found it and resected. That's why resecting my curliQ bowel doesn't scare me. Guest guest
My father had this also. What I have never understood is if we have a greater chance of developing diverticulosis because of our RNY surgery. I think we do have a higher chance of it. Anyone else have any comments on this? This is serious stuff, my dad almost ended up with a colostomy bag because of the pockets of infection. Thanks... Jan C. 3-11-98 RNy Re: Adhesions >Diverticulosis is nothing to kid around with. Guest guest
There are no studies that prove diverticulosis is increased due to WLS. Do you understand what it is? Michele (with one L)
Guest guest
You talking to me? Mine was dx in 1991, so long before surgery. No attacks since WLS. Guest guest
No, I was talking to Jan who had asked if there was an increased risk of it after wls. Michele (with one L)
Guest guest
When I was a child, my mother had a condition which sent her from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was wrong. When the last doctor she saw suggested that she see a psychiatrist, my mother gave up trying to find out what was wrong. However in the process, she had a barium enema and she was told that she had a lumpy, bumpy colon. This translates to diverticulosis. Prior to my WLS, my surgeon insisted that I have my large colon checked out and I was informed that I also have diverticulosis. I'm convinced that diverticulosis is something that you are born with. So far I haven't had any problems with it and it is possible that I (hopefully) never will. I don't see how WLS could cause it. However I'm an engineer by training and have no medical background. Perhaps some of the medical professionals on the list could jump in with a better explanation. Thanks Sue > There are no studies that prove diverticulosis is increased due to WLS. > Do you understand what it is? > Michele (with one L) > >
Guest guest
Sorry. I wish my emails came arrived in some kinda order. Well, they do, but not exactly by the second. LOL! Guest guest
you mean inside the stomach or out? one of my incisions on the outside was irritated and my mom called the dr because it got really swollen. he told her it was like a pimple that formed in between my skin and muscles and it would eventually pop. it did and it leaked and leaked and leaked. then i went there a couple days later when he took my staples out and he had to pop it open again and clean it. he told me to dip a piece of gauge in saline solution 2 times aday and put it on the wound and cover it with gauge pads and tape it up. seems to be healing. lauren
