Guest guest
Kimber, Thank you so much. I am from Sumter SC and am 30 years old. They found my pancreatitis when I was 26 after gallbladder surgery. It was not do to that though. It was due to the fact that Oddi was malformed at birth and we didn't know it until then. I guess it is just something that most doctors don't look for unless they need to. They told me I was very lucky not to have diabetes. I am overweight and try to stay on a low fat diet. I take pancrease and ultram for the pain. The pain is most of the time tolerable and I try to deal with it as much as possible. My regular doctor laughs at me because she knows I will work until I can't anymore. I was just raised to work until you can't anymore as most people are now a days. I help my mom out because she has Fibromylagia. I have had 3 major attacks that I have had to be hospitalized. I have had 3 ERCPs and stents which help but every time they do one I have an attack. My last hospital stay back in March was due to Stress at the job, the fact that my brother was going through a divorce and his wife was dating my boss (she worked with me), and my fiancée breaking up with me because I stayed sick all the time. And that was before my first major attack in four years. I have had two major ones in the last 7 months. I have now decided to quit my job and go to California for the summer at least to help a friend out there and try to get my life back on track. I have been reading the posts on the list and am glad that I found it. This is a very caring group. Just being on here for the last couple of days has helped me realized that there are people out there that have the same problem that I do and I have support. My main problem sometimes is that some of my family think pancreatitis is caused from drinking to much. I was never a heavy drinker and since these last two attacks, I have quit all together. I don't want to risk my health anymore so that is why I am taking this trip. Sorry for making this message so long but I thought I would explain a little about myself. New Member - , I just wanted to welcome you to our group, I'm sorry you suffer from this disease though. Where are you from? I hope you find this group as helpful and caring as I have found. I joined in January and I cannot say enough on how wonderful everyone here has been. Kimber hominid2@... Guest guest
Kimber, Thanks so much. Yeah it hurts but I am slowly getting on with my life. My first big step is CA. We had only been together for two years but what happened happen so I am living with it. Hope you are feeling better. I also have been in the hospital twice this past year. Actually 4 if you count the fact I got to come home for a couple of days before I went back in. I see my new pancreas doctor on Tuesday and hopefully all will go well. -----Original Message----- , yeah, I was told the same thing, be glad it happened before the wedding. Still hurt though. We'd been together for 6 years, which is a long time.Enjoy your time in CA. I'm emailing this with my new toy, which is a laptop so I can keep in touch with the group even when I end up in the hospital, which is currently about once or twice a year. Hope you are having a pain free day! Kimber hominid2@...
