Some of these I can vouch for.

The prep H under the eyes works. It's something you aren't supposed to do ofter (I forget why right now) but I've used it on occasion when I'm dressing up to go somewhere and my eyes have dark circles. Because of the vasoconstrictor part it also lightens the circles. You want to do it a little before making up, and not immediately before going out, the ointment has a slight odor. Also, I've found that the suppositories stored in the refrig do a better job than the ointment.

Hairspray will also work for flying bugs since it stiffens their wings.

I've used duct tape (country girl, LOL) to remove small splinters.

Bacon will work to bring a boil to a head, too, it's the salt that "draws" the boil.

When I was growing up the family Doc had us use vinegar and brown paper for bruises and it really did help. I forget why the brown paper went over the vinegar.

I'd be careful about using Dawn on my pet because it will really dry the skin due to the grease cutting properties.

The oats sound messy, LOL.

I have used the oatmeal for arthritis but I have used a oatmeal soaked in cold water and then strained on itchy skin (the liquid, that is). It works on my eczema every time. I guess I'll have to try the warm potient (sp?) on my arthritic fingers and feet. Who cares if it's a bit messy if it takes away the aching.
