Guest guest
I walk 3 miles everyday and it really helps to clear my head and also makes me feel so much better!! I have my own small daycare and care for 4 children ages 4 and under, so believe me by the end of the day I need some head clearing, also if you have a buddy that helps too, I have 3 others that walk with me and we have a blast and sometimes really get to walking and talking fast. Sometimes you just have to make yourself get up and go, think how wonderful you will look and feel!! Smile! Exercise Does anybody have any good motivation for me to exercise? Guest guest
I'll put my two cents in here. I only wear saucony brand. I would suggest that you go to a fitness workout place and ask where they purchase their shoes. They should measure your feet to see what style would be best for the shape of your foot. Good luck -- Exercise Does anybody have any good motivation for me to exercise? I know it's good for me, but lately I just don't feel like doing it. ~There are no strangers here... Guest guest
Does anyone know the type of exercises that will help with the resulting hanging skin? Like particular ones for thighs, stomach, arms, and neck?? At 51, I expect to have plenty, but would like to minimize it as much as possible. Thanks Joan C, Calif. Guest guest
Joan, I love the bands. The resistance is said to be akin to lifting small weights ... and helps to build muscle too. My knees were damaged in a car accident ... so walking works best for me .... but too, one of the things that makes me feel simply marvelous is Hatha Yoga which burns ... 4 cals per minute. Am including a site which has Animated lessons for free. Enjoy !! Yoga Online Yoga, Animated Hatha Yoga Postures, Stress and Yoga, Free Yoga Free Skinny wishes from Mandy in CA 275/149/
Guest guest
Thanks for the site. I bookmarked it and will check it out soon. I've never tried any kind of Yoga, but have wanted to. Thanks so much for the info. Joan C, Calif. LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282/257/140 Re: Exercise Joan, I love the bands. Guest guest
Joan, You will love the Yoga once you get into it. I never thought it possible to burn that many calories per minute without the traditional strenuous physical output. Its the exercise of choice for many of the " on the screen sveltes " ... enjoy.. Guest guest
Thanks , I had forgotten the tapes. I have some from long ago. I'll get them out and take a look. Joan C, Calif. LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282/255/140 Re: Exercise Water is a great exercise because its not so jarring on your body but walking is good too. I've read that walking is actually better for you than running because it doesn't damage your knees, ankles, and joints like running can. Also, I'm sure no one wants to see my 300 plus pounds of blubber flapping if I tried jogging down the road:) The non-impact aerobic tapes are really good if you use them faithfully. Good luck

Guest guest
Hi Kay My daughter teaches water aerobics at a gym, she told me that she has met many women who came to the class for loosing there ten percent before surgery or after sugery to tone up..........so maybe if you find out locally where you are going , you could find out from the instructor if she has a class that has any such people like that in it, just an idea.........and if it were me cause i am shy that way, i would wear a large terrycloth robe out to the pool and just go home in it.......... Hope someone has better answers for you ColleenKay wrote: Hi folks,I need to add more exercise to my routines. I've been using my recumbant stationary bike and my treadmill, as well as doing some work with 3-lb. free weights - but I need to do more toning exercise and my physical therapist (as well as my pcp) is strongly suggesting that I need to get in a pool for water walking, swimming and/or aqua aerobics. Unfortunately, I am very self-conscious and uncomfortable with the amount of hanging skin I have - especially on my thighs and upper arms (I've never seen anyone with worse upper arms - they aren't "bat wings", they are "elephant ears").So . . . I was wondering if folks could let me know where they work out and how comfortable they feel there. I know I need to do this. But I am really scared. Thanks for your help.Take care,Kayopen RNY 12/1/03Colleen
Guest guest
Hi Colleen, Thanks . . . that's a good idea. I think I might ask if I can come observe part of class before enrolling. I hate letting this self-consciousness and trepidation stop me from doing what I need to do. *sigh* All the best, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 Colleen Garner wrote: > Hi Kay My daughter teaches water aerobics at a gym, she told me that > she has met many women who came to the class for loosing there ten > percent before surgery or after sugery to tone up..........so maybe if > you find out locally where you are going , you could find out from the > instructor if she has a class that has any such people like that in > it, just an idea.........and if it were me cause i am shy that way, i > would wear a large terrycloth robe out to the pool and just go home in > it..........
