Guest guest
Betty, you have had your share of troubles that is for sure. Just something to think about and I'm sure you have already thought about it, but if you become unable to care for Don then who would over see his needs. Would it not be better for both of you to be in a care facility until you recover from your physical conditions are under control. You would still be with Don and be able to see that he is being taken care of. It would be better mentally and stress free for that time. Give it some thought.......Flora
Guest guest
Dear Bonnie & Don, You poor, poor dear!! It sounds like you are doing pretty darn good despite your horrific summer. Being able to write and tell all of us about it, is a positive sign. Keep us informed about your blood, & hang onto that loose knot real tight! God bless you! Guest guest
Oh Bonnie My heart goes out to you and Don. You've had more than your share of stress for sure. Now please don't close your mind completely to a care facility. My friend was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. Her daughter is disabled and couldn't help so she agreed to assisted living. She was there a year while re-learning to eat and walk etc....She then moved back into a place of her own. She laughs when she shares that one could get spoiled in those places where they cook great meals and serve you, do your laundry and hang it in your closet, and come in often to talk and keep your spirits up. They even bussed her to the musical concerts in town. Several of her neighbors were couples on the mend who wanted to stay together. Sounds like to me that you could use some spoiling and pampering just for a while until your health gets better. Hang in there Eva in WV
Guest guest
Dear Bonnie and Don, Please know that I will say some prayers for you and you keep holding on and Eva is right, maybe some assisted living care facility would help both of you get more strength back even sooner! ....and having someone you depended on, your angel, and having her not be there can be a real blow to your security, so think about it and may God continue to give you strength to face each new day! Guest guest
Bonnie, Bless your heart. You have so much going on, I don't know how you do it. But you are one strong lady and the love you have in your heart shows. Don is truly a lucky man for having such a loving, caring wife. Is your daughter able to help? Does your local ALSA help? I'm praying for you and Don. I'm sure others on this list are doing the same. Hang on, you can't let go now. Love Thomson
Guest guest
Hey Bonnie, I made your zucchini bread yesterday, only I used carrots, as that is what I had on hand. It was wonderful. I use my cookbook all the time. It has such good recipes and I think fondly of those that have contributed the ones I use.

Guest guest
Whew Bonnie, that's more than a handful of mishaps!! I'm sorry to hear you've had it so rough. When it rains, it pours sometimes. I will definitely keep you in my prayers. You are a strong woman though and I'm glad you took control. Sometimes these events make us stronger. Don't neglect your body though. Don needs you whole so take care of yourself for his sake as well as yours. Take care and hang in there better days are ahead for you. God Bless Yolanda I LOST THE KNOT IN MY ROPE - HELP!!!! HI ALL, WELL IT HAS BEEN QUITE SOME TIME SINCE I HAVE POSTED. I READ AS OFTEN AS I CAN BUT AM SO FAR BEHIND I WILL NEVER CATCH UP. I KNOW THAT THERE IS A LOT GOING ON WITH YOU ALL. I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT WELL FOR ALL. THIS SUMMER HAS JUST BEEN AWFUL. DON'S CONDITION CONTINUES TO GET WORST. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR HIS TALKER. HIS BI-PAP HAD TO BE INCREASED, AND WE ARE FIGHTING TO KEEP HIS BOTTOM IN THE PINK WITH NOT BLISTERS OR RASHES. THE ANGEL OF AN AID WE HAD FOR TWO YEARS HAS STARTED NURSING SCHOOL. SHE STILL COMES ON THE WEEK ENDS TO CARE FOR DON. I AM SO HAPPY FOR THAT WE MISS HER SO MUCH. SOME GOOD NEWS IS THAT SHE IS EXPECTING. SHE HADN'T PLANNED THAT FOR DURING SCHOOL. SHE WILL DO FINE. SO WE HAVE HAD ALL KINDS OF REPLACEMENTS. DON HAS NOT BEEN HAPPY WITH MANY OF THEM. WE NOW HAVE 4 DIFFERENT AIDS DOING THE WORK THAT OUR ANGEL DID. I HAVE BEEN HAVING QUITE A FEW HEALTH PROBLEMS. I HAVE A LUNG CONDITION THAT HAS AFFECTED MY HEART. AS A RESULT MY HEART CAN NOT CIRCULATE PROPERLY AND I AM JUST FILLING WITH FLUIDS. MY LEGS LOOKED LIKE THE BELONGED ON AN ELEPHANT AND BEGAN LEAKING. SO AS A RESULT OF THAT I ENDED UP WITH A VASCULAR SURGEON TO HELP WITH MY LEGS. I HAVE FELT LIKE H--- AND MY DR. ORDERED TESTS. IT SEEMS THAT I AM NOT PRODUCING RED OR WHITE BLOOD CELLS. I DEVELOPED AN INFECTION OF SOME SORT IN MY MOUTH AND THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON ALL SUMMER. CAN'T GET IT CLEARED UP. THE SKIN ON MY RIGHT LEG GETS AND INFECTION AND I CAN'T STAND ANYTHING TO TOUCH IT. THE DR. SENDS ME TO AN ONCOLOGIST TO TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. HE RUNS ME THROUGH THE GAMETE OF TESTS AND PICTURES.AND CT SCANS. SO THIS ONE MORNING FEELING SO SICK I HAD AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE ONCOLOGIST AS WELL AS THE FAMILY DR. LATER THAT DAY. SO I MAKE MY DAUGHTER GO WITH ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALY WANT TO HEAR WHAT THIS GUY WAS GOING TO TELL ME. ER ARE LOADING DON ON THE VAN. HE'S IN AND I GO TO GET IN AND TRIP ACROSS THE LIFT AND FELL FLAT ON MY FACE IN THE DRIVE ACROSS THE LIFT BARS. SMASHED MY POOR SORE LIPS ON THE BLACK TOP. I BLED SO MUCH I DIDN'T THINK I HAD A MOUTH LEFT. THEY HAD TO GET AN AMBULANCE TO TAKE ME TO THE HOSPITAL. I MISSED MY APPOINTMENT BUT WAS ADMITTED. MY BLOOD COUNT WAS SO LOW THAT THEY STARTED ME ON BLOOD RIGHT AWAY. ANTIBIOTICS CAME LATER AFTER THEY DECIDED THAT THE LEG WAS INFECTED BUT THAT MY BODY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH WHIT CELLS TO FIGHT IT. WELL THEY KEPT ME FOR A WEEK. CINDI WOULD BRING DON OVER EACH DAY. SHE COME IN ONE DAY AND I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND A WORD THAT HE SAID. I SENT HER DOWN TO THE ER WITH HIM. SEEMS THAT WHEN THE ORDERLY GAVE HIS A SHOWER WHILE I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL HE CAUSED DON TO ASPIRATE WATER. HE HAD WATER ON HIS LUNGS. SO HE WAS ADMITTED JUST 2 ROOMS DOWN FORM ME. THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO BE IN THE SAME ROOM. SO AFTER DON WAS PUT IN THEY CAME IN AND TOLD ME THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO CARE FOR DON AND THAT HE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GO INTO A NURSING HOME. THAT IS WHEN I LOST MY KNOT. I CRIED FOR DAYS. THEN THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GO INTO A NURSING HOME ALSO. WILL I STOPPED CRYING AND TOOK BACK THE CONTROL. WE BOTH CAME HOME ON TUESDAY. THANK GOODNESS THAT DON NEVER GOT PHENOMENA THEY TREATED HIM WITH IV ANTIBIOTICS TO WARD IT OFF. PASSPORT PROVIDED HIM WITH EXTRA CARE FOR EIGHT HOURS A DAY FOR 3 DAYS. THEN AND AID FOR AN EXTRA HOUR IN THE AFTER NOON FOR A WEEK AFTER. I HAVE GOTTEN SOME STRENGTH BACK. AND HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CARE FOR DON DURING THE DAY AND WE ARE BACK TO THE REGULAR SCHEDULE WITH THE AIDS. SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN HOME MY BLOOD COUNT IS GOING DOWN AGAIN. BUT SINCE I BROKE THE LIFT ON THE VAN AND IT CAN'T BE FIXED UNTIL NEXT FRIDAY ALL MY DR. APPOINTMENT HAVE TO WAIT. WE BOTH HAVE A HOME NURSE COMING A COUPLE DAYS A WEEK TO CHECK ON US AND TAKE BLOOD. I HAVE THE BEGINNINGS OF A KNOT BUT IT IS PRETTY LOOSE. CAN'T TIGHTEN IT UNTIL WE FIND OUT WHAT IS GOING ON WITH ME. ] I MISS YOU ALL. AND MAYBE SOME DAY I WILL CATCH UP ON EVERYTHING. LOVE BONNIE
