A lot of you take herbs and use various home remedies, so I thought I'd pass

along the title and isbn number of what looks to be an interesting book by

Terry and Joe Graedon. (I pondered whether this should be off topic or not,

but figured since so many use them, it was ok - apologies to those who don't

want to read this). Many of you may be familiar with them (they have a

national talk show and weekly column in many papers). I happened to be

watching them on a PBS fund drive last night. Did you know that mustard was

good for a burn? Or iced tea? I know many years ago that I used to get

pretty bad sun burns (fair skin) and back then (in the 60's), there were not

the sunscreens that are available today, or at least not ones that were very

effective. Once I had the sunburn I never knew of many good remedies to

take the pain away - well, back then I happened to read one of Joe Graedon's

books and he suggested that 4 aspirins about every 3-4 hours with a lot of

milk really does the trick. He was definitely right! Saved me from going

out of my mind after a few nasty experiences on Florida's white sand beaches

(I'll no doubt pay for this later). He may have changed that recommendation

recently (probably burned a few holes in people's stomachs - LOL), but it

still works for me. I had tried aloe vera gel - didn't work for beans -

left a crusty layer on my skin and did nothing for the pain. YMMV

(paperback).

There's an interview with them at http://tinyurl.com/3dryg if you're

interested. Or you can visit their web site at http://tinyurl.com/2629l

I might also add that if you buy books on the Net, an excellent site to get

the very best price is www.bestbookdeal.com . Check it out - it will

compare roughly 30-40 different stores and will show you the bottom line

price. I use it all the time.
