Guest guest
I think it was Connie who said her son is in the Dominican Republic and was taking doxycycline as an anti-malarial. I was looking for info on an anti-malarial drug that was responsible for the death of a friend and vision problems for his widow -- side effects that were known but the drug was still kept on the market for resistant strains of malaria -- about four years ago. Couldn't find anything and maybe that one is no longer in use. All I remember is that the name started with letter " L. " Anyway, while searching I found an article that said that people who go into an area with malaria MUST USE THE DRUG FOR FOUR WEEKS AFTER they return to the US. One of the biggest reasons Malaria is spreading is that tourists take anti-malarials when they are in Asia and Africa and quit as soon as they get home. Result is that mosquitos in their home area pick up the bug from them. Just thought I would mention it because someone's son is in DR now.
