Guest guest
Jeff.... Your pharmacy is incorrect. The name brand Minocin still comes as a time released version. I just got it from the tricare pharmacy a month ago. Look at your pill and see if it is a gelatin capsule with little pellets inside. This is the time released kind. Before going on tricare, I used to buy it myself through canadian pharmacys. I always called up and asked the pharmacist to look at the pill and make sure there were pellets inside. Some carried the pellated (time release) and others did not. You must ask. Evidently not all pharmacys are willing to carry it as most probably it does not have as much market being so expensive compared to the generics. I went to a compounding pharmacy and he explained that the time release was not avaliable and the other was just as good. I came out of remission after four months on it. Started asking around and sure enough it is avaliable, but not everyone wants to carry it or has access I guess. I have found that most people do much better on the time release version overall. If one has not done well on the powdered version, I would start looking for the pelleted time released kind. Some times they are two toned green (my current ones)....others I got from Canada were blue and orange gell caps with little yellow round pellets inside....not powder. It would be great if the generic worked for all of us....and for some lucky people it has proved fine......for me the time released is the only kind I stay well on. And it is still avaliable as Tricare is the government pharmacy program and they just shipped me some. Martha
Guest guest
All, I have BCBS through the Federal Employees Program. I just reordered Minocin this week and it happened to arrive today when I received Martha's email. I thought I'd jump in with the following info. The pills I received are manufactured by TRIAX and are a green/light green capsule with tiny green pellets inside. The RX label says 'Marketing: Lederle.' I am so fortunate to have the coverage. The prescription price for 180 capsules is $1,210.87. Thanks goodness I have a mail order program and my cost is only $35.00. I try to remember this whenever I feel disgruntled about my job or the folks I work with. I wonder what 180 capsules of Minocin cost in 1975? I bet it wasn't even $35.00. I have nothing against capitalism and making a profit but when is it ever enough for some of these companies. The greed, and I have to believe that's all it can be, astounds me. Guest guest
Ute and Geoff, I am with both of you. From the very start I refused conventional treatments and opted for AP. Guest guest
I concur. I watched friends and family go through the conventional route and saw it did them little good. So I research and then tried a different path and although I have a lot of 'labels' I feel I have a much better quality of life. April 7 will be my two year anniversary with Minocin and I'm so thankful I can take it and it works for me. The only side effect that's difficult to manage is when I can take it during the day (trying to work it between food and vits). I need to eat every three hours or so and finding that four-hour window is difficult. By the way, does anyone happen to know if Minocin in any way reacts with Armour Thyroid? Thanks to all for your input and ideas. It's all good.
