Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone else took a portable cd player with them and if they did did you really use it? I was thinking I could use it while walking? Thanks Laurel
Guest guest
I prefer to walk with someone else so that I don't poop out too soon, plus walking while talking is an additional benefit. However, when I walk alone I definitely take an ipod. Upbeat music to keep my pace consistent. I see this lady who wears hers, and she is a skinny mini, the funny thing is she sings and wiggles her bum while running...it's a hoot. She is in great shape, a real pro!!! Guest guest
I didn't make use of anything I took w/ me except my lip balm. HAHA! I took a couple of books, word search puzzle & cross stitch. None of it ever made it out of my bag! **MEN STOP READING HERE*** LOL Although, I would recommend for the ladies to make sure & take some " feminine hygiene " products just in case. I was on my period during surgery (sorry guys, TMI, I know) and was thankful I took something w/ me. Guest guest
, Definitely take the lip balm and a few other suggestions include: Your protein - I hated the protein flavor they added to the foods, in fact it made me sick, so they allowed me to use my own protein Underwear and pajama bottoms - after the first day, I felt strange walking around in just a gown with nothing underneath and at night I would get cold, so they allowed me to wear my underwear and pajama bottoms Shower products - you may want to take a shower while you are there and may want your own shampoo, soap, etc. Goodluck ! in Virginia 299 (pre-op weight)/248 (present weight)/150 (goal weight) surgery date: 5/3/

I was such a silly duck, I really thought I would have had my surgery so much sooner, but I got hung up on the last pound I had to loose. Guest guest
LOL! I suppose it would probably be more painful for men seeing as I didn't have any pain at all associated with my catheter. Oh and as for the Versed that was being discussed in another post, I don't remember even leaving my pre-op room. I was out! before even getting to the operating room and then I don't remember a thing until I was in post op and woke up freezing my butt off and wanting my husband. No was allowed to visit me in the post op room, but apparently I was so upset about it that they moved me back to my pre-op room so that I could see my husband until my room up on the ward was ready. I remember going to my pre-op room after surgery but I recollect very little about it and for that matter I remember very little about the first day at all because after I was given the PCA, I was out. It made me very drowsy...I slept alot! The first time I got out of bed was on the second day for the stand up X-ray with that nasty tasting drink that made me gag. in Virginia 299/248/150 surgery date: 5/3/06 Re: 10 day count down >I didn't bother to bring my iPod. Guest guest
My cath didn't come out until the second day after my X-ray. My second night stay was the worst. I had no catheter and I had these massaging leg things on my legs, so in order to go to the bathroom I had to call a nurse or nurse aid to take my legging things off before I could use the restroom. Well, during my second night, I woke up having to pee really bad so I paged for help and no one came after 15 min. so I paged again. Another 30 min. went by and by this time I was in so much pain with having to pee so badly. I paged again and still no one came so I painfully forced my body in half to undo those darn legging things and got up from the bed. I went to the bathroom and then went outside my room to scold some staff for not responding to my calls. For pete sakes I could have fallen and been hurt or something even worse! When I walked out my door, my nurse was sitting right outside my door performing turnover with another nurse. Let me tell you, she was ripped a new one. I was so angry and when the head nurse came to visit me the next morning, I told her the story and told her I had better not see that nurse in my room again and I didn't. When I had to return for pancreatitis and was hospitalized for 2 weeks, I thought I had better not get that nurse again and I didn't, but I did see her. When they had to put my TPN line in my neck for nutrition, she did have to come in to assist and it was quite awkward, but at least she was providing direct care to me. in Virginia 299/248/150 surgery date: 5/3/06 Re: Re: 10 day count down LOL!!! Guest guest
Yeah removal of the bag.........I could have gone my whole life without doing that! But its only for a few seconds and by that time you really want it out.......Then you can get up and walk and everything is so much better.
