I still have so many concerns/doubts. I know that I will be healthier being lighter but what about all the other stuff (side effects of the surgery and rapid weight loss). Would all of you do it again...despite what appears to be nonstop vitamin popping, nausea, vomitting, hair loss, sagging skin, etc.? I just want to be sure that I'm making an informed decision based on facts and reality and not based on a fantasy of being a smaller size and my fiance being able to carry my over the threshold come May! Guest guest
Hi Donna- It is normal to have fears about these things. It is a huge change to go through. I'll give you my take on your questions. ....despite what appears to be nonstop vitamin popping, ********I've always been a vitamin popper, so this hasn't been that hard to adjust to. It is essential for our health after surgery, so you just do it. nausea, vomitting, ****** I only have this if I've eaten too fast, taken too big of bites and not chewed well enough. Over the first few months, I could be ill for several hours before getting relief, but now I'm often sick within minutes of making those mistakes. It's painful and I could kick myself every time it happens, but it only happens once every couple of months now. You live and learn as you go along. hair loss, ******I haven't had any. sagging skin, ******* I don't think there's much to be done about this. But I'd rather have sagging skin than be morbidly obese. Fantasies are great. I'm not sure you could lose enough by May for carrying over the threshold, but you may be looking much thinner by that time. Just remember, you'll only be able to eat a very small wedding meal and just a bite or two of wedding cake, so keep that in mind as well. Good luck getting your approval and date. Guest guest
Dear , >>Would you do it again... In a heart beat. I've lost 73 pounds in less than four months and I feel 1,000 times better than I did before I had my WLS. Taking vitamins and learning to eat a new way is well worth it to me. I don't suffer with nausea or vomiting and I can, pretty much, eat anything I want, within reason. I stay away from white sugar, soda and greasy/fried foods but I'll taste sweets (every now and then) and enjoy something fried (usually seafood) if I really want it. The difference from my old way of eating is ... I now have a " FULL " mechanism that works. A couple of bites of something and I am satisfied. A few tastes of something and I can push my plate away. It's an incredible feeling not to feel STUFFED TO THE GILLS from eating way too much food at one sitting. No more snoring, no more reflux, no more swollen ankles and swollen legs (from sodium and pressure from carrying around another 73 pounds on my frame). If I had diabetes my sugar would be in check, my blood pressure would probably be normal and a host of other health benefits. Consider all the plus' and the side effects (in my opinion) are very small and easy to live with. Take good care of yourself and God bless your WLS journey richly. Happy New Year! Love, Trace in Va.
