Guest guest
Hello All, For about a year now I have had the inflammation in multiple joints similar to the symptoms of RA. I have been to some of the top doctors in my area, including but not limited to orthopedists, rheumatologists, and internal med doctors. I have had all of my blood factors taken over 5 times only to have all come back with completely normal results. Every DR that I have seen seems to think I have been infected with a " virus " that will soon subside. They, understandably, rely on my blood tests only to tell me that I have nothing to worry about. After much research I have come to a conclusion along with my excellent internal med Dr that I may have the beginning phases of RA or a similar autoimmune disorder. Under this assumption I convinced my Dr to prescribe DOXY to see how I would respond. After about a month of taking 10 mg 3 times a week I started to see a huge diff in overall body inflammation. I then felt great for about 2 months only to have recently seen the overall effectiveness of the drug seem to wear off. I have increased dosage to mwf 200 MG with no avail. I am extremely upset as I was sure I had found the " cure " or something to help these mysterious autoimmune problems I was having. Does anyone have any advice as to what to do now that it seems as if the AP is not working anymore. Thanks for your help. --------------------------------- Cheap Talk? Guest guest
Hi, I'm sorry you are having the return of symptoms. A few things can cause that. Were you takinglots of probiotics while on the doxy? Yeast can cause symptoms to worsen. Die off can also cause symptoms. For yeast, diflucan or oil of oregano, or green black hull walnut, or whole garlic cloves, for instance. Die off, you could take peroxide/epsom salt baths or foot soaks, lemon and olive oil drink, lemon water several times daily, and benedryl before bed. Another thought is perhaps switching to minocin. Guest guest
Ari, I answered you in email, but thought i should post the answer here as well in case anyone else would be interested. Jan * Vaginal Yeast Infection * Constant fatigue * Oral Thrush (white film in mouth or on tongue) * Abdominal pain * Bloating and indigestion * Joint pain with arthritis-like symptoms * Chronic sinus drainage -which antibiotics don't help! * Weight loss OR gain and the inability to change it. * Brain " fog " -easily feel overwhelmed by mental tasks * Fungus on the fingernails or toenails * Urinary infections (again, not helped by antibiotics) * red, itching eyes * Skin rashes on the body (eczema, atopic dermatitis) * Anal itching * Rashes on or around the sexual organs * Hair loss * Depression from feeling " bogged down " all the time. Ari, Above are symptoms of yeast infection...there are more. you can google and find many sites. If you aren't taking about 4-6 times what the bottle of probiotics suggests, you could have yeast. Even taking probiotics doesn't guarantee you won't get it, especially with the 200mg daily and any iv's or additional abx. Increased dose is most likely a herx. Herxing means you are killing off more bugs and you probably need the increase. just cut back on the abx one day and see if the symptoms get better. Increase the dose slowly to avoid having hard herxes, like only add 100mg per week and wait 2 weeks to add more. If you think you are having die off, try the lemon, olive oil drink. Or, drink lemon slices in water all day for a couple of days. They both work great. i recently had die off from oregano oil i was using for yeast. Lemon drinks did the trick! Also good are the peroxide baths and foot soaks. Benedryl at bedtime helps too, wipes up the hystemines left from die off, and usually makes you sleep =) Jan ap 21 mo ra/lyme
