Guest guest
, I haven't found any pain medication to work effectively on me yet. I say " yet " because if I give up hope, I don't know what I'll do. Tigger (Ruth) in Rhode Island What medications are we on? As for me I am on Celexa=depression,Strattera=AADD, Klonopin=aniety,Robaxin=muscle relaxer,Ambien=sleep, Tramadamn=Tramadol,Lyrica=?????,Lotrel=heart condition, Prilosec=acid reflux. What interest me most is what most of us are being prescribed for pain and how well it works if it works at all. Guest guest
Hi! Newbie here. I wanted to reply to this post, but first I have to say that for those of us who use medications to improve our quality of life, don't be ashamed. For some of us, we couldn't get through a day " normally " without the help of our medications. Are some of us " over medicated " , yes, I believe so. I was at one time. Finding the right " cocktail " of meds can be a long and complicated process of trial and error until we finally find the perfect " fit " for ourself. Of course it may not be the same as what works for others with the very same condition. That's one of the most frustration things about having FM, for doctors and patients alike, it isn't a cookie cutter disease. As long as you aren't abusing your meds, you are taking the correct dosage, and if your Pain Clinic is like mine and they do random UA screens, they WILL know if you are taking more than you should, and your meds improve your quality of life and allow you to do things that you couldn't normally do without the medications, then use them without shame. Medications, along with a varied lifestyle of exercise, and supplements is a way of life for us Fibromites. Are we " addicts " , NO! Are we " dependent " , YES. Of course we are dependent on the medications we take. When a substance is introduced into your body, your body becomes dependent on that substance, just like nicotene, and we will suffer w/d symptoms when we change or go off some of these meds. We depend on these meds to help us get through our life, simple as that. Being an " addict " is a condesending label put on those of us who use meds so that we can live a semi normal life. We depend on our meds to " help " us just like we depend on air and water to sustain us. Having said that, here are a list of my current meds: 100mcg/ugh Fentynal Transdermal Duragesic Patch changed every 48 hours 10 mg Lexapro one daily 10 mg Valium taken up to 3 X daily 10 mg Opana taken up to 4 times daily for breakthrough pain For sleep I take Advil PM or something similar OTC instead of an RX. Now, I have been on many many other meds until I found this " cocktail " of meds that work for me. And I have narrowed down the number of meds to these because I personally felt I was over medicated. I was up to 7 different types of medications a day. IMO, that was too many. Previous medications: Cymbalta, Effexor ER, Roboxin, Vioxx, Celebrex, Trazadone, Tramadol, Percocet, Lortab, Roxicodone, Kadien, Oxycontin, Dilaudid, Methadone, Ambien CR, Klonopin, Soma, Neurontin, Lidoderm Patch (which I actually do like), Loracet (I don't react to anything with tylenol in it; Hydrocodone works best for me) I think there is more, but I can't recall them now. When I was first diagnosed with FM I was given so many different meds, I felt like a human testing protocal! Along with FM, I had also found out that I had 3 Lower Lumbar herniated discs (L3-4 4-5,S1), which are now inoperable. I have, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, EBV, FM, CFIDS, Spondylosis, Spinal Stenosis, and other big words that are caused by my discs! Pinched Caudial Nerve, arthritis in C6-7, slight curvature of my spine, small nodules on my thyroid, I have arthritis in my tailbone from it being broken a few years back (fell out of a hammock, don't ask! LOL) I can't raise my right leg very high, I have to walk like I have a stick up my butt because it hurts to wiggle my hips like a REAL woman! LOL And I have Tendenitis in my right shoulder from waiting tables as a proffessional waitress for so many years. Many, many owies. Again, nice to meet you all, Tracey in Iowa > > , > I haven't found any pain medication to work effectively on me yet. Guest guest
Hi , I am on Cymbalta for pain and I must say it works quite well. On Nexium for acid reflux, equally as beneficial. And Lunesta for sleep, which doesn't work at all. My biggest problem is the sleep issue at the moment, and it makes life hard. I need to get a new sleep aid for sure. The pain is there but very minimal. Hope all is well. Jerilyn

Guest guest
> > I wasn't going to chime in because of previous comments that upset me; but the dust has settled so here goes. I think, as with most everyone else here, I take meds for more than the Fibro! Prozac =20mg - for major depression, 16 years Pamalor = 10 mg for fibro (shrink thinks she should control it because it is also an antidepressant) but it is really intended to help me sleep! Wellbutrin XL 300mg don't remember if that is for the fibro or depression since that is also one shrink controls Valium 5mg, again for fibro, again shrink writes Atenolol 25 mg, blood pressure and one other script for blood pressure, Sometimes I take oxycontin for fibro pain, haven't asked for a script since last spring as no serious pain that I can't control with one of the over the counter pain meds. So, actually considering what all the rest of you take, I don't have as long a list as I thought! But oh, I also have a script for the new smoking cessation drug. I have not filled that as my doctor forgot to give me the coupon and I got one yesterday from her nurse yesterday, so I will be filling that soon --- so when we move into our new house I won't fill the new house with nicotine (going to be hard but I am hoping this will help!) Today I had one of my very favorite forms of fibro therapy, a massage! And, Boy! did I need it! There were several areas that really were sore --- and as with almost massages, I really was surprised at some of the sore spots that I did not even know I had! That's one of the good things about a massage, the therapist almost always finds the places that are sore that you were even aware of!!! So I am not scheduling one until just before we leave to go to southern Illinois at Christmas time unless I feel as if I am in so much pain I just can't take it!!! Guest guest
LOL , Where in Southern Illinois are you headed? I have a close friend from there. I think he said it was Cairo or Urbandale but I could be mistaken. Oh and I'd like to say welcome to the generously medicated, multi-diseased crowd!! We gotta stick together!!!! hahaha Angie Carson City, NV; Single, five children (3 at home), 2 dogs, 5 cats, snow skiing, camping, Harley Rider, Lone Wolf, Blue Thong Society/High Sierra Thong Snappers member, LFA Advocate, independent, opinionated, outspoken, and open minded. Guest guest
I use to take that name of pills years ago. I think what they do is out brown pills in the pack. They have you take the Green pills that stop your period and have you want a week or two to get the peroid to come and then after that you that could be the brown pills. then you go back on the green ones again is that what happens tell my please. Guest guest
My pills are all yellow, it's a generic version of Ortho Novum 1/35. I take three weeks of yellow, completely skip the green ones, start pack two and take another three weeks of yellow, then another three weeks of yellow, then one more three weeks of yellow. That is three months time, by then the doc instructs me to take a week of the green/placebos and have a 'period.' Then I start all over again. The first pack I'm clear, but by the time I get to the second pack, I start getting spotting and breakthrough bleeding. The doctor said unfortunately that's common when skipping periods.
