Guest guest
I had another thought on the clothing: Does this group have a clothes-swap feature? It's far cheaper to pay for shipping of a box of clothes than to buy new stuff! Just a thought , Long Island NY, pre-Pre-op
Guest guest
I replied to personally, but I wanted to put out there what I am doing right now. Preop, I had a number of skirts (broomstick and prairie style) that had elastic waistbands and drawstrings. I've been able to just pull up the strings and they just look fuller. For other items, I've started utilizing Goodwill and Salvation Army. I know I'm only going to be in them for a short while, and you can get some nice items there. Hope this helps! D. Guest guest
Hi Mike, Thanks for the info. I'm not really stressing over it, I'm just a planner. If I can't have surgery, or sizes change slowly, then I'd buy the clothes just to have something new and they'd last through fall/winter. However, if I can have the surgery in Sept. and do lose quickly, then I would be out of them before I'd be really in them. I can make it with what I have, and am basically trying to decide if I should buy something based on my body now, or hold off. What took so long between your insurance approval and the actual surgery? I hear some people get a date for surgery prior to insurance approval. I plan on going through UofM and haven't found anyone who has used them or have MCare insurance so I have no idea what to expect. My hopeful date of September is based on the bariatric place saying it takes about a month to go through their nutritional sessions and psych evals. I also have been seeing my PCP since last August, which the insurance requires. I don't like to get my hopes up about these things, but I am going to do my best to get it done ASAP. I am originally from Texas and only see my mother at christmas. She is worried about my weight so I'm hoping that I can have the surgery and be able to have some weight off by then. I have kept clothes as I've gained through the years and look forward to pulling them out. Then again, just because they fit doesn't mean they'll be in style. I think I even have some old ropers (low cowboy boots) from college. I don't think I'd ever wear those, but I can't bear to throw them away. Smaller clothes are funny like that. I bet that if I lose down into those clothes (or into smaller sizes), it won't bother me to get rid of them. BTW, I'm in Howell, so I guess it's about 2.5 hours down the road from you. in MI > > > > I know no one can really help me with this, but I might as well > throw > > it out there anyway..... > > > > I have my consultation with the bariatric center on Aug. 1. Guest guest
It sounds like the only reason that I should buy clothing in my existing size would be if I weren't able to have the surgery until at least december or january. Then I might need them. I just don't want to believe that it will be that long so I'll hold off. Since I've pretty much kept all of my clothes that didn't get worn out on the way up with my weight, I should have plenty to get me by on the way down. I guess the reality is that I don't really believe I'll get approved, have the surgery, and lose the weight. There isn't a single reason that I can think of that would prevent this, but as everyone here probably knows, when you've never been able to lose weight, it's hard to believe that it will ever really happen. You tell yourself every year when you look at those old clothes, " Someday I'll get back in them. " and you never do. It's just hard to make myself believe I really will. in MI > > > > I know no one can really help me with this, but I might as well > throw > > it out there anyway..... > > > > I have my consultation with the bariatric center on Aug. 1. > Assuming > > everything goes well, it takes about a month to go through their > > pre-op nutrional counseling, diet, and psych evals. Guest guest
You mean you don't like the look with the belly fat hanging out of the bottom? ;-) in MI > > , > She who wear shirt to big.......look better than shirt that to > small..... > > Indian Mike > > Re: Silly clothing dilemma > > > > I'm kinda in the same dilema. Guest guest
I took my clothers to a consigment shop this summer and hopefully that will work out. They also had some really nice things very inexpensive as opposed to new. No junky things all good quality. I hate to part with my favorite pants but I LOVE the new smaller sizes. I have been buying 2 pants and wearing them until I get to the next smaller size. The tops last longer so that is nice. I actually went out and bought pretty underwear that felt so feminine, it's been a long time. This weekend I also bougth a pair of pajama's and had to take them back because the XL in ladies was too big. What a great feeling not to have to shop in the women's department! So many choices and the sales. Kathy 220/178/

Guest guest
Is it like in her mind the clothes look like they do on a super model but to everyone else her excess body is hanging all over? Self image is not = to reality. > > Makes me think about this girl at work. She ALWAYS wears her clothes 2 sizes too small. Usually you can see her undies comin outta her pants. Her shirts are too tight & too short. People have even told her she looks bad. She doesn't care I guess. > > W > 380/339/160 > > -------------- Original message ---------------------- > > > You mean you don't like the look with the belly fat hanging out of the > > bottom? ;-) > > > > in MI >
