Guest guest
Welcome Haley! I just had the surgery on June 23 & I was very scared too. It came out just fine for me & I'm sure it will for you too. What was a gastric bubble? I have never heard of that before. Good luck to you! > > Hi, > > My name is Haley and I live in Las Vegas, NV. Guest guest
The gastric bubble was a kind of balloon that was placed in the stomach and inflated. It was supposed to restrict the amount of food you could eat. It was horrible. You had to swallow what felt like a garden hose for them to place it, and it popped within two days. I don't know if it digested itself or just passed through my system, but after several months of no weight loss and my insisting that it was no longer there, the doctors finally went in with a scope looking for it. They never did find it, but my stomach was never the same after that. Unfortunately, I hear that this procedure is being brought back. Sad. I had the bubble about 20 years ago rather than gastric surgery back then because I was too scared to risk my life then. Now, I think the success rate is worth the risk. Guest guest
Welcome and good luck with your upcoming surgery. I had the lap RNY on 5/11/06. So far I am down 40 pounds and feel great. The group is an awesome source of support and information. Stacey > > Hi, > > My name is Haley and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I am scheduled for a > lap RNY in just over a week -- July 10th. Guest guest
Thank you for sharing Haley, that is interesting and it seems like a strange proceedure, I am glad you are ok though. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for all the support and welcomes. I love this group! I plan to learn as much from you all about doing this right, and I plan on doing everything in my power to make this a success. I was more nervous waiting for my insurance to come through, but once I got the date (a full two weeks earlier than the office had told me), I have calmed down considerably and just want to be as well-prepared and informed as possible. Good luck to and Colleen, and anyone else having surgery soon!
