Guest guest
I am 9 days out of surgey and feeling ok. Today I am even doing some work from home not to stress full. My hospital experinece was a nightmare. The firs nurse took about an hour to get my morphine pump set up. I woke up in a lot of pain. could not breath, my chest was killing me and my husband did make the surgery after all kept telling them her chest hurts and she is in pain. I whine alot but when I could not breath telling that nurse that I hurt just out of surgery. She want me to tell her where my pain was between 1-10. I was not happy. I was never able to control my pain because you can only press the button every ten mins. Every day that I was there I had the same nurse did not make me any happier. I am usually outspoken but I was hurting to much to say anything to anyone. My roommate little old lady had friend and family came in all day long talking on their cell phones I did not say a word. When I came back from doing the grastric graph I was trying to get out of the wheel chair and she was tryin to get out of bed and she had push the tray cart (not sure what it is called)in to me. That night my mother and my 4 boys came to see me and the two little ones where very happy. ages 10,8. She had complained that there was too much noise and she could not get sleep so they moved her to a different room. It was a good thing that I was on drugs. But I feel wonderfull today. Tube is out open wounds are healing well. When I was prompoted to soft solids I could have cried because I was needing food. Cannot not wait until I try some different now. I have lost 12 as of Monday when I went to the doc. Selina 282/270/
Guest guest
Selina, 9 days out? Same as me! Welcome home. The hospital sounded like a disaster for you, but it will soon be a distant memory. How are you feeling now? Hopefully, your worst part is over. I am still having pain, but it is manageable without drugs. Every day gets a little bit better. I walk 30 minutes everyday now, and I am still trying to get all the food stuff figured out, but I lost 13 lbs this week too. Good luck, and don't stress about the horrible hospital experience, because it is over now, and you made it through, and that is the only thing that counts. You are doing great, and that is the important thing. Hugs, Haley RNY 7/10/06 330/308/XXX

Guest guest
Selina I'm so sorry you had poor care & a rude roomate.I was lucky enough to have my own room.My pain pump was timed for every 5 minutes & the nurses kept reminding me to hit it.Sounds like they didn't have a good system where you were.Glad you husband & family could make it to see you!Congrats on your weight loss.Doesn't it just feel great?Take care!! Guest guest
Hi Selina, Wow did your story bring back memories. I had the open surgery so I know exactly waht you mean about not being able to breathe. I honestly thought I was going to die when I first woke up from the pain of every breathe. I had nurse wratchet also, but fortunately she was on the night shift however my first night was hell! I didn't know I was supposed to get the morphine every 10 min....I was lucky if I got it every hour!! Luckily I got a room with another girl who had the surgery that day also. It was great to have someone to go through those first few days with (which are the hardest at least in my opinion) Hang it there, it will get better! Congrats on your weight loss so far, this is only the beginning!!! *hugs* Open RNY 1/10/05 310/250/
