Guest guest
I just remembered -- a good friend had terrible vertigo last Spring. She was almost as bad as me back then, running into walls and she wanted to lay down all the time because of the light-headed feeling. They finally discovered it was caused by Zantac. She had been taking if for about three months when the vertigo started. The vertigo went away within a few days after she stopped taking it. Just thought I would mention it in case any of the list members who are on Zantac have vertigo that did not appear until after starting the Zantac. My friends case may be a very rare side effect of the medicine. I have not looked at the side effects of Zantac on the Internet and this incident may just be another " Scary Movie " -- but at least you know it happened. H. Guest guest
When was an infant, the combo of Propulsid and Zantac was what saved all of our lives and sanity. We gradually decreased it when she appeared to eat far more solids (not as easy to projectile vomit) and she seemed to feel better. Decreased it over, gosh, my memory fails me. By 9 months or so, she was off and appeared fine. When we began periactin at 4.5 yrs or so, the reflux reared its ugly head. As long as we mixed the Zantac with the Periactin, she was fine. No Periactin, no need for Zantac. So.... no one wants to give unncessary medicine. I would use your gut instinct. Ask your doctor what they think? Hasn't only been on the Zantac for several months? And if my memory serves me, wasn't he the one that vomited multiple times a day? I wouldn't be in any rush to stop the Zantac.... HA!!!! > Hello everyone > has been on zantac for quite some time now for vomiting and it worked brilliantly. > > Is there a point where we stop using zantac on our children? Or do we reduce the dose and see how they manage without it? Part of me is afraid to to this as the vomiting used to be terrible and yet I would hate to be continuing with a medication that he no longer needed. Do our children grow out of this vomiting themselves as their guts mature or is it the medication that is controlling the vomiting? > > many thanks > Maeve mother of . > > >
