Guest guest
, Thanks for your input. I knew we had to take it on the same day, but there was never a specific time set for it, as far as I knew. I like the idea of taking it a night and sleeping through the " yucks " I'll keep that in mind. I was being somewhat silly because I feel great on Monday's and get to the gym but feel wiped for 2 days or so after Tuesday treatments so I thought I'd go to the gym on Tuesday mornings before I made myself sick and then not get a workout in until the end of the week. I've been taking it early in the a.m. every week .... so not to ramble, thanks again and I'll keep the grapefruit juice out of my diet for a while; however, does this include eating a grapefruit? I usually have one every day? Thanks again.
Guest guest
C here, does anyone know if you are suppose to stop your meth if you get sick? I have read that if you have an infection you should stop til it's gone. What about a cold? I can't seem to get any answers from pharmacist or dr. Guest guest
, I was sick last week and because I had a fever and a sore throat, my doc told me to stop methotrexate and enbrel until my fever had been gone for 2 days and then pick up on my regular schedule. Re: methotrexate C here, does anyone know if you are suppose to stop your meth if you get sick? I have read that if you have an infection you should stop til it's gone. What about a cold? Guest guest
The short time I was on Metho my doc told me NOT TO stop it abruptly. It has to be a step-down process like you would with pred. Unless it is a change from one to another. Like I switched from Metho to ARAVA. Anyone else? Guest guest
I have never had any side effects from mtx. My hearing has been bad on and off though. My guess is it's more of a reaction to decreasing the Pred. 40mg to 25mg is a pretty big drop. I do it too, but sometimes when I drop off too quick I get some pretty weird things that happen. I wish my doctors were more up on the Pred., none of them like it any more than me, but they are all afraid to mess with it. So, I adjust it myself. I don't like staying on high doses for any longer than I have to, but everytime I try to go down less than 30mgs per day I end up paying for it big time. I do go down on the pred regularly. Most of the time I drop off by 5mgs at a time trying to stay on the new dose for about 2 weeks longer when the dose gets smaller, the longer I'm on the new smaller dose the better my body reacts. I feel the most affect when I cut down from 10mgs to to 5mg. I'm sure I should drop that off slower, but I don't have the benefit of the smaller doses. I'm afraid if the docs ever decide to take a hand in the cut back they'll never bring it back up again no matter what is going on with me. Mtx. has never seemed to do anything for me. Right now I'm not taking it. The reason, I can't afford it. I wish all the meds cost the same as Pred. than I might be able to to afford more of what they prescribe. Good luck, I know only the docs should prescribe the doses, You should probably check in with him, but I think you're right about increasing the dose for awhile, maybe to 30mgs or 35mgs, then cut back again. the MadMystyk > I started mtx 3/5/04-7.5mgs dropping the preds 5mgs a week > from 40mgs 3/25 I am at 25mgs pred all hell has > broke out with my hearing I had to bring the > preds back up to 40mgs. hearing was so low > had to get a phone that lights up so I would know the > phone is ringing. going back to the rheumatolist 5/6. Guest guest
Hi, I had a hard time coming off or lowering the preds also it took forever to go down and just have the methotrexate. Just make sure and mention to your doctor that you are having a real hard time with the process and he will go down slower or at least that is what my doctor did. I had to go down from 1000mg daily to 30mg daily. It seemed to take forever but when the doctor took it real slow the process was not too bad. Take care hope the info helps.
