,

Welcome again, sorry to hear that you went 2 years without being properly diagnosed or treated. I was not diagnosed right away either and now have RSD full body as I mentioned before. What kind of treatment are you receiving now and what medications are you on? I hope that you find this group to be helpful - everyone is very friendly and supportive as much as we can be.

This is a fairly low dose of Armour. Have you have Free T4 and Free T3

tests? What are your lab values if so? Unless you have the Free T3 in the

upper

range or over you're probably still going to feel bad.

what test was that for. You should be getting the free t3, free t4 and TSH for

baseline plus antibodies test. You should also always get copies of all test

results.

I could not understand the nurse, but she said mine was .6 and the

beginning of the range is .7 and up. So I was under the lowest range.

I quess I am going to have to request them to send me a copy of my

test that way I won't have to bother the nurse about it. What do most

people take in armour? I was getting scared that every two years he

said he had to raise my dosage.

yes, you need to have the results in hand. If you have Hashi, then the thyroid

is dying so you will need to increase the thyroid med level. Why does that scare

you?

Dr. Derry and others have written that most people feel best between

3 and 5 grains of Armour or 180 to 300 mcg. I am taking 3-1/2

grains. The healthy thryoid makes 4-1/2 to 5 grains a day. So, there

should be no problem raising the dose. This may help a lot. If you

have a bad reaction to any dose less than about 4 grains, this

usually means that you have adrenal fatigue and will need to make

smaller increases in thyroid at a time and wait about 4 weeks or

more before you increase again. You cannot really overdose on less

than 4-1/2 to 5 grains according to Dr. Philip Young becasue any

amount you take less than that, the thyroid will drop it's

production by that amount to keep blood levels below 4-1/2 to 5

grains.

If you have low adrenal reserve, which is common in hypothyroidism,

you will need to give time for the adrenals to build up their

strength between thryoid dose raises. When adrenal hormones get too

low from a thyroid increase, it gives you symptoms of thryoid

excess. Adrenal hormones are needed to get thryoid into tissues and

when there isn't enough, thyroid builds up in the blood and gives

symptoms like a racing heart, the shakes, weakness, and other hyper

symptoms.

Need more info on what your test results were and original diagnoses

(Hashi's?).

Hi Donna,

I am sorry if this is a double message but I am having trouble with

my computer. I wanted to say I am kind of new here myself and I

think you have come to the right place here as everyone seems to be

so helpful. I was diagnosed with Type II in Dec. of last year and a

lot of my family have diabetes. I am 48 and overweight and am trying

to get on the right track with eating right and exercise. I did

attend the diabetes classes and the nutritionist was a big help. I

just have to get with it. My husband has Type II also and we had

started walking 2 miles a day but can't seem to keep it up. Nice to

meet you. in FL

Welcome Deborah!

Feel free to ask any questions you desire. Our board is a wealth of

information.

Personally, I love WLS. It's the best gift I ever gave myself.

May I suggest you do all the research on WLS and look at the good,

the bad and the ugly side of WLS. Please make an informed decision.

It is a major life change.
