Elaine, I would get on the horn and see what's taking so

long. Have the surgeon's people sent the paperwork in to the

insurance company? If they say yes and can give you a date

when they did that, then call the insurance company. Have

the papers arrived and how long will the approval process

take?

Every once in a while, papers get misplaced. They don't get

to the insurance company. OR they get lost at the insurance

company. OR the insurance company has decided and forgot to

tell the doctor. OR the doctor's office forgot to tell you.

There's nothing wrong with following up, even once a week.

This is a procedure that a doctor says is medically

necessary. You want this information. You go out there and

make sure that everything is being done correctly so that an

answer is received as soon as possible. You may discover

that the decision has been made and is sitting in a file

somewhere. You may discover that more information is needed

by someone, and nothing has moved from the very beginning.

Some people hear in a week once the paperwork has been sent

to the insurance company. Some people don't hear for a month

or two. At least you'll be able to find out more about the

time frame.

Cheers!

Hi All,

I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. Just joined this group. I'm

doing the

waiting game on my surgery date. I signed my consent forms

on

November 15th and I was told then that I could possibly have

surgery

in January. But, the way it looks, I'll still be here

waiting come

January 31st. I'm having a very hard time with this waiting

process.

I try to not let the surgery consume my every waking minute,

but it's

so hard not to think about it. My nerves are like a thin

plate of

glass just on the verge of shattering. I'm jumpy and snappy

at

everyone. I cry about everything. I really need a lot of

support and

prayers. How did some of you handle it? I've tried to

focus on

getting things prepared for surgery, but one can do only so

much until

they get a date. I want this so bad. It's like teasing a

child with

a piece of candy. You know it's out there but you just

can't reach

it. I've been attending a support group in Atlanta and they

are

really a great group of people. We meet once a month,

sometimes I

wished we met every week. I'm sorry to jump right in the

new group

and start venting my frustrations, but I'm just looking for

any

support I can get. Thanks for listening.

I'm waiting too & new here also. My PCP referred me in November & my

1st appt was last wk. My doctor said it would probably be at least 6-8

wks. I'm so impatient & the waiting is awful. I can see here that we

will get through this together...there is so much support here. I'm

amazed at how great you all are!! :)

Dear Elaine in GA.,

::Soft Hugs:: I know the waiting game stinks! The good thing is that

you were not denied, right...? I'm glad that your insurance company has

recognized the validity of WLS.

Look at this time of waiting as a season of preparation. You can get

your house in order, make/freeze meals for after your surgery, go through

your closet and get rid of things you don't like now and won't fit in just a

few weeks after surgery. They'll be too BIG! Won't that be grand...? Visit

Mom and order protein samples. The samples helped me decide which protein

flavor/consistency I liked without having to buy a large canister. Waste

not, want not, right...? :) <A HREF= " http://www.vitalady.com/ " >Vitalady.com -

Take good care of yourself and remember that there are plenty of

shoulders here for you to cry on. ::More hugs::
