Guest guest
Amy... The Minocin may take many months to kick in really good, even a year or more. As much as I dislike embrel it may make sense to follow your doctors directions and go off slowly. That will allow your immune system to gear up slowly and maybe keep you from some of the major herx problem many of us have had. When I first started Minocin I decided I would give it a year. I wrote several paragraphs down on a paper and put it in the top of my jewelry box to review at the end of the year and see if I was truly better or worse. Having never been on any of the major immune suppressing drugs, I was fortunate my immune system was still in fairly good shape. I did much better, much faster than the average AP patient. I was also on a high dose...100 mg twice a day everyday....for the entire time. I was in remission after six months. I occasionally experience a flair and have gone back on the twice a day minocin for awhile. I have done this for six years. I have no further joint damage and am so glad I found people to tell me about this great therapy. Just remember...we all start off at various places. Some of us are much sicker than others. Some have been on meds so long their own immune system will take months or even years to rebuild. This treatment requires patience and persistence. But its benefits for those who persevere can be enormous. Martha
