The danger is it can cause much more serious problems such as osteomyelitis (which happened to me), pneumonia, muscle infections, and on and on. It can cause death of course. And it's highly contagious. If I were you I'd insist an infectious disease doctor be consulted---we've had several cases of it in our family and in all instances this was done. BTW I was on Levacquin, Zyvox and Cubicin and one other I've forgotten. Cubicin was the last and longest. I'm told it's quite powerful. My sister had this infection in her arm and was on antibiotics for 2 months. I find it difficult to understand why you were only given 10 days of antibiotics with such an obviously serious problem. Had no idea that it could cause that much misery. I threw the feather pillow away and it cleared up completely .. have not had it since. I thought I would never get over it then. rheumatic sorta off topic Hi everyone, I have experienced fluid in my ears for many years. I have had tubes put in a few times and they were great but at my age I am now producing lots of wax which is lodging itself on the openings of the tubes. I also get a lot of sinus problems. Does anyone know any way to get rid of the fluid, homeopathic or otherwise? This problem also causes my eyes to feel dried out. As soon as I get an antibiotic the eyes are fine. With me it ended up acting like some of the symptoms you can get with Menieres Disease. Almost wondered if not that at times. A friend of mine who is a RN head nurse in surgery got me some info and she also has a website that I became part of. With Menieres there are two main nerves that get attacked, the tinnitus which is the hearing/ears area, and the vertigo which is the balance nerve causing people to become very dizzy. The way she explained it to me, some thing or things seem to be triggering the balance and hearing symptoms. And the obvious response of the body is to bring out its defense mechanism, in this case, its inflammatory process. That is how the body reacts to anything " not of it " or a foreign material, or even its own body tissue as in an autoimmune condition. The body thinks it's under attack. And brings out its army of defenses. In this case, lots of extra fluid with additional white blood cells and other " protection " . This helps get rid of the invaders. But could the very action of the extra fluid be the cause of many of the symptoms? If I have spoken to you personally, I would have described this as " a field of grass under water " . The grass is pressed down with the force of the fluid and the fluid, by its very nature, distorts the signals it sends to the brain. So not only do the electrical impulses not get sent along, but the fluid also distorts what it does send. Seeing it is our immune system/defense that is being attacked when these tiny bones and vessels in our ears get so clogged we are then left open to anything. Next best thing is to get the immune system working again so it can fight off anything. This could be one thing it could be. When you mentioned sinus as well, this is all within the same area. I have a list of things that can trigger these symptoms, in fact they are meant for anything and good health in general, if you would like it. There is also the old fashion method of clearing your sinuses I am sure you are aware of. Filling the sink up with boiling water, putting a towel over your head and doing some deep breathing. Sometimes just a good hot soak in the tub and all the humidity can really get the sinus loose again. This does take several tries before completely clear.
