Situation report

We all are safe as our land with my building is 15 feet above sea level Will

open for Business on 28 December after Christmas holidays.

Tidal wave did not come over the Cost Railway line as the sea and Railway line

inside the city is protected by 10 feet high 3 feet wide large Granite rocks

which is more than 5 tons each rock Our area waves were only 10 feet high some

areas waves were 40 feet high.

I live and do Business (Windshield Repair) in Metropolitan area Colombo 00300.

My 4 story building is along the Srilanka west cost sea beach and facing main A

2 Highway. Behind my house there are 5 houses then duel Railway line running

along the coast facing Indian ocean. Distance to the sea coast is about 75 yards

from main A 2 high way. When British build the coast Railway line they had

raised the land with sea sand and the city section of the Railway line by 10

feet all our buildings are about 15 feet from the sea level out side the city

coast Railway line is only 2 to 3 feet from the sea level and this coastal

Railway line extend to 100 miles.

In City area Tidal wave came only up to Railway line but Colombo City end (down

town) 10 miles away from city Tidal wave washed off entire coastal Railway line

with all poor peoples houses which are mostly build with wood. the sea water

came in to the land 3 miles to 1/4 mile where ever land was 2 to 3 feet from sea

level and the land was totally filed with sea water. Only few Concrete

buildings were saved.

Still no one can assess the number of dead. At the moment 18500. at 8.00 PM 27th

Srilanka time.

Sylvester.

Sylvester,

I am so glad you are safe... you were one of the first people that I thought of

when I heard the news of this terrible disaster. I am so relieved. My heart goes

out to you and your family, and everyone there. PLEASE let us know if there is

ANYTHING you need or anything that we can do for you.
