Guest guest
Am sure all of you are on top of it but do want to send a reminder to take not only the Vitamin C but the Vitamin K to help keep this under control. Ute, like you, I will take the lack of illness with SD over the discoloration should I have to make that choice.
Guest guest
Maggie, I also have a discolored tooth. I have been on Minocin since 1998. Off course it has to be a front tooth! I don't like it, but I rather have a grayish tooth than rampant RA. I may spring for cosmetic dentistry if it bothers me too much. How much to pay for vanity? ;-) Take care, Ute
Guest guest
Maggy, I had the discoloration of my teeth mostly right in between the teeth. When I stopped taking Minocin the discoloration slowly went away. I thought about teeth whitening but my perodontist said it would just draw more attention to the brown since the discoloration was in between the teeth where it would be hard to whiten. I am about to start Minocin again, but I think the positives outway the negatives in my case. Good Luck! Guest guest
So vitamin C and vitamin K help keep the discoloration of teeth under control?? I was not aware of this. I appreciate the info. Jen Sltfain@... wrote: Am sure all of you are on top of it but do want to send a reminder to take not only the Vitamin C but the Vitamin K to help keep this under control. Guest guest
Hi, Maggy and group! Sally in Little Rock, Ark here. I have been whitening my teeth with Dr. 's Dental Whitener since mine started to discolor shortly after starting AP in Dec '99, while living in Fairfax, Va. You can get this at Walgreen's and probably on-line. I get lots of compliments on my white teeth (even my new dentist here in Little Rock:) and Dr. G's is probably the cheapest product of all the OTC whiteners and it DOES get to the discoloration between the teeth, too, since you put the trays in your mouth with the gel in them, you're soaking/bleaching all parts of your teeth. Initial kit costs maybe $10-15 and the gel only (good size tube) costs around $9 or 10. Heck of a lot cheaper than $600 for the dentist to bleach your teeth. After the initial bleaching process, now I just do it once every week or so for 15 minutes, as I drink tea and coffee. BTW, apparently, the harder your teeth, the harder they are to bleach. This is what I've heard. Good luck, all! Sally rheumatic Discoloration of the Teeth I know this is supposed to be a concern in children only but it is happening to me. Has anyone experienced this? Guest guest
Is there a recommended amount of Vitamin C and K to help keep hyperpigmentation under control? Guest guest
, I purchase a small bottle of vitamin K and take one a day. Not a very scientific reply for you but that is what I do and I have been exceedingly lucky. As far as the Vitamin C, I use only powdered pure ascorbic acid - not mixed with any other vitamins or minerals - and use 1/2 tsp. a day in water. Some people take it twice daily but being smaller sized, once daily is all I need. Otherwise, I go too far into diarrhea and should you do that, just cut back a bit on it until you don't. I hope this helps.
Guest guest
Sally - do you know if this product is OK to use with composite fillings? (or will it deteriorate them somewhat? Or will if affect the cement or bonding agent of the composite?) Thanks - les rheumatic Discoloration of the Teeth I know this is supposed to be a concern in children only but it is happening to me. Guest guest
Hey Les and everybody! Sally in L. Rock here. Les, I'm not sure what composite fillings are but I have a mouthful (of prob'ly composite fillings) in my head. I used to sip on Coca-cola all day at work. Now, I know better!! I've had absolutely no troubles with any of my multiple fillings getting worse in the 7 yrs I've used Dr. 's. One caveat, it does not work on porcelain caps. I have one on an eye tooth and it is still the same color as when I got it in '00. I notice it but doubt anyone else does, except my dentist. So, go for it everybody. I only do it about 15 min. once every 2 wks or so now. I'm pretty sure the initial whitening is longer. Good luck! Sally in L. Guest guest
Sally - thanks for the info! Composites are the white fillings, and , depending on the brand, are various combinations of 'plastic/acrylic' and porcelain (some composites are totally plastic; others are predominantly porcelain). So if the whitener does not work on your porcelain, then I would guess there is a chance that it will not work on composites. Good to know, tho, that it would not harm those type of restorations or the cement that is used. I recently went looking for Dr 's and could not find it anywhere, and one of the places I did go was Walgreens (near Phila, PA). Have you seen it in any other stores that you know of? les rheumatic Discoloration of the Teeth I know this is supposed to be a concern in children only but it is happening to me. Guest guest
Hey, Les! Sally in L. Rk here. You're welcome! Try another Walgreen's store in your area. I went to a different one than usual and mgr told me they don't all carry the same stuff. Also, try on-line. It is " Dr 's Dental White " by M & M Innovations, Inc., Brunswick, GA.
