Guest guest
I've never heard of it either. When we put an iron filter on our well pump, they tried to sell us a water purifying system also--removes chlorine and such. Since we don't have city water, there is no chlorine! That said, we still by natural spring water for drinking. I don't know, but my guess would be this Pi system is a wallet cleanser. Those magic ceramic balls that polish the water (as the description says) sound more like snake oil to me! Jill
Guest guest
Martha, I think that your diagnosis is correct. A pi water filtration system will clean your wallet, not your insides. While the claim that pi water " cured him completely of all arthritis " may be part of the sales pitch of your " gentlemen, " it is unlikely to be true. I have never run across any online information that links arthritis to any type of water. However, a number of web pages state that drinking lots of water, like lots exercise, is good for arthritis and other medical conditions. This brings up the issue of " pi water. " A www.google.com search on " pi water " (in quotation marks) brings up 1,510 pages. The page http://www.mind.net/aware/piwater.htm states: " Pi water was discovered through 30 years of analytical research of bio-systems by Dr. Yamashita of Nagoya University. This systems employs multiple unique layers of filtration combined with magnetism. During the process a minute amount (2 X 10-12 mol) of a substance called Ferrosoferric Iron is dissolved in the water, which is claimed to play a role in the electromagnetic balancing of water. The cluster chains of the H20's are also said to be reduced. Its filtration includes activated carbon, coral sand, natural active calcium, BCS ceramics. A powerful magnet is also used. Many amazing claims are made about the water, including its ability to sustain both freshwater and saltwater fish together. Its introduction into this country is so new that still very little is known about it. The writers of this paper have yet no personal experience with Pi water, but are actively pursuing leads. " The page http://www.0disease.com/0piwater.html states: " Pi Water® or Pi Mag Water® was invented in Japan, with the conclusion that far infra red frequencies are the most important functional property in water. A water purification system was developed that used magnetic rock, magnets and stones that expose water to far infra red frequencies. But the problem of limiting water to specific three dimensional functional properties is the same issue of limitations as found in water ionization with electrical currents (which was also invented in Japan), magnets or any other artificial devices. Nikken took over the sales of Pi Water® units and renamed them Pi Mag® Units because they added one more powerful magnet to the water device, which in turn created one more altered water limitation that is counter productive to human health. Furthermore, the Pi and Pi Mag water® units do not address the issue of imbuing water with higher dimensional vibration and energy that is accomplished with Dr. Wheelers M-Water Activation Technology™ to create Primordial M Water™ that is added to clean drinking water. " And finally, a page with a lot more detail: http://www.balancedlives.net/Hyacinths.htm " What is Pi Water? It is energy water. It is something alive. Essentially, it is a vibrational remedy, imprinted with subtle energy patterns. Pi-water was discovered through the study of botanical physiology. It was originally thought a hormone was responsible for causing plants to bud. Dr.Yamashita was conducting research, attempting to isolate this hormone, when he discovered that what was causing the flower to bud was not a hormone at all but a very minute amount of ferric ferrous salt. In 1964, Dr. Yamashita, an agricultural scholar furthered his research and found that this substance had other highly beneficial qualities. Inducing this ferric ferrous salt into a high-energy state and infusing it through a ceramic filter process creates pi-water. A pi particle is a quantum particle smaller than an electron, neutron and proton. The pi meson causes the protons and neutrons to exchange energy states with one another, which create energy and electrical charges of it's own. The amount of ferric ferrous (bivalent and trivalent ferrite) is minute, a quantum particle - essentially such a trace amount that it is only the energetic signature of the substance that remains. (2x 10-12 mol.) (Homeopathy also utilizes the trace signature of the substance.) It is theorized that these quantum particles are conductors and are responsible for carrying information and cellular " memories " (previously encoded information) such as natural bioenergetics and (other) processes. " As you can see, there's a lot of snake oil here, moving from ferrous salts to infra red to pi particles (or pi mesons), which do exist but have a life span of only 26 billionths of a second. Guest guest
Hi Martha! Geoff here. You wrote: " I have been thinking of purchasing a water filter for my kitchen and a gentleman came into my store and suggested I look into a pi water filtration system. Claims it cured him completely of his arthritis. " Start here: http://www.nsf.org/ www.wqa.org www.water-filter-gpm.com Then wade through these: www.aquamd.com www.aquapure.com www.aquasana.com www.aquasuninternational.com www.culligan.com www.puritec.com www.naturalsoultions1.com www.waterinc.com Or, you might want to go over to your nearest Home Depot or Lowe's and ask for what the trades commonly call a " Fat Boy " filter. It is a large cartridge-type filter, about 6 " dia and 12 " tall that is capable of filtering whole-house. Cartridges vary on need, I use the one that is classed to remove chlorine. That also keeps us from bathing in chlorine. Cost about $100 including installation by a plumber on the main line coming into the house. I installed one Pur on-faucet backup for when we are doing laundry and the gpm (gallons per minute) is too great for the whole-house system. When that happens, the water bypasses the fat filter. The Pur is fine for this very small need. As you suspect, the Pi Filter would not have cured the man's arthritis, but it may well have removed the antagonist if he was reacting to pollutants in his drinking water. If he is selling the product, I wouldn't give him $0.02. I like to think I can trust people I'm doing business with to be honest, even if I don't like their answers. Guest guest
Dean, Drinking distilled water long-term is very dangerous as you already figured out. Pure water has pH of 7.0. Distilled water absorbs carbon dioxide from the air and becomes acidic. http://www.4optimallife.com/Distilled-Waters-Danger-To-Health.html There are trace minerals that you can add to distilled water, but trace minerals are often contaminated with toxins, and 75% of products on the shelf was found to not have what the ingredient label said (my nutritionist who did a lot of research told me this). I just bought a pack of Nestle bottled water from Sam's Club. It's purified water using reverse osmosis or distillation process, and some minerals are added for " taste " (that's what the label said). It was a little over $3 for 24 bottles. I didn't test the pH yet, but I think I'm going to just to see. I heard that grocery stores have water that you can fill into a jug, and it's reverse osmosis. I've never bought it before, so I don't know too much about it. The other alternative is getting water delivered from places like Culligan. Or get a whole-house reverse osmosis system installed at the main water line (although I read that RO system uses aluminum, so I would research about it first). Guest guest
Actually there is a very inexpensive, easy way to make alkaline water: just add 1 teaspoon of sea salt to 1 gallon of regular water. Make sure you use dirty-looking sea salt, not the white one, which is processed. The dirty-looking (gray or pink) one has lots of healthy minerals in it. If you are using tap water then you need to get rid of the chlorine first, which is also easy to do. Just leave your water out in a large open vessel (like a pot or a bowl) for a couple of hours. The chlorine (which is a gas) will evaporate. Then you can add your sea salt. Your water, thus treated, will have a slightly salty taste (predictably...). Many people don't mind this taste at all. Others just get used to it very quickly. Sea salt will not drive your blood pressure up either. The white, over processed table salt does that. Here are some sites that will help you know more about salt and water, etc: http://www.curezone.com/foods/saltcure.asp http://www.watercure.com/index.html Hope this helps.
