For several months, I took 10 mg of baclofen in the a.m. and again

at night. About 2 weeks ago, I gradually increased the dose until I

now take 20 mg in the a.m., 10 during mid-afternoon and 5 at night

for a total of 35. This has helped my stiffness, but I can't keep my

eyes open during the day. I sleep in my recliner in the early

afternoon for 1-2 hours and again around 5-6 pm. I also fall asleep

in the evening while reading or watching TV. I still sleep at night.

Will this eventually go away? How long does it last?

I guess I increased too fast. I went from 10 mg in the a.m. and

before bed, to 15 in a.m., 5 in afternoon and 10 at night, then 20,

10 and 5, each increase after a week. I know you have to be careful

about reducing the dose, so starting tomorrow I'll do 15, 5 and 10,

then stabilize at 10, 5, 10. If that doesn't help, I'll try

Zanaflex. Thanks for the input.

Hi Edith,

I take 5 mg Baclofen at 8 am, 5 at 3 pm and 10 at 10 pm. This works for

me. Have been on it for 2 yrs. Was told 60 mgs a day but couldn't handle

it. Neuro said coincidence but when I increased to 60 a day is when I

had to go to walker. Baclofen also relaxes the bladder.

Sleepiness, gee, I wish! Nothing makes me sleep. I lay on one side at

nite for about an hr, wake up with hip or leg hurting, turn to other

side, same thing, finally lay on back for about an hr and wake up with

leg or ankle hurting. Sleep with pillow between legs that helps some.

Klonopin, .25 mgs, gives me a " jump-off " in the am.

Good luck with your PCP and pass on any good info you get.

--Arlene, I had terrible hip pain too, until I bought that memory

foam pad from Penny's. It is 100 times more comfortable than those

egg carton foam pads. I ordered it out of there catalog. I think it

is a little more now. They have a whole bed like it, but it is

pretty expensive. I think has one. CarolynIn PLS-
