Guest guest
Rhonda, I would be happy to help Mark, but I am a bit confused. Mark's treating physician actually dropped him because of something the company Dr. said? Am I getting this correct? Before I respond, I want to be sure I am quoting the correct laws, etc. There are all kinds of legal things going on here. My first suggestion to Mark is to contact an Attorney, right now. A physician cannot simply "release" you without being sure you've got adequate care. It is against the law. Especially since Mark has the SCS. They simply cannot do that. There were, obviously, privacy issues that need to be dealt with as well. If he had to abruptly stop pain meds, and finds himself in any type of withdrawal, he needs to get to an ER. Firstly and most importantly, to be sure that he does it under medical supervsion, secondly so that it is documented that he was forced, by this "Dr" to withstand unnecessary withdrawal. That is called malpractice. What type of Dr. is Mark's RSD physician? Does he have a GP he can see for the time being to prescribe him meds, etc. Please let me know. Also feel free to pass this on to Mark, although he may read it himself. My Goodness, I am angry here, and want to help somehow, but I do need to be sure of the facts. Thanks, Jo Thanks Jo those are the questions I had also.

Guest guest
Actually the HIPPA laws cover only the release of medical information by a hospital, medical center, physician, nurse, or their staff. Unless Mark signed a relase with his physician (which he may have in order to get disability), his physician by law can not even acknowledge that Mark is his patient. There are laws, however, that cover the release of and the type of information by an employer about an employee to someone outside of the place where that employee works. Enough said. In any event, Mark needs to retain a lawyer quickly. Most attorneys will take a case based on a percentage of expected monetary damages if they believe a case has a reasonable expectation of being won. I too am curious re which doctor "dropped" Mark....his GP? His pain doc? The surgeon who implanted the SCS? I am very concerned about all of this....and pretty damned pissed too. Please let him know that I send my best and am keeping him in my thoughts. BarbaraAmey Hoagland wrote: Rhonda , excuse my language but IM PISSED!
