Guest guest
Yes, but for some reason the storm door was unlocked. It's locked now. -- Re: Mother/Sister update Sorry your sister is having back problems. They do keep their doors locked, right? Kathy Mother/Sister update Bad news: From talking with on the phone, it seems her back is really bad. She says it's getting better with Motrin, but she uses a walker to pull herself out of the recliner, & sits in Mother's wheelchair because it's easier to get up from that than a soft chair. She's still taking care of Mother! Good news: had a call yesterday from the respite care people. A nurse will visit to do an evaluation in about 2 weeks, then hopefully, in another 2 weeks, will have help 4 hours a week. Cause for concern? One night, someone knocked on their front door at 11 PM, but couldn't see anyone, so we hope it was a prank. Yesterday, 5 PM, lights on, curtains open, someone opened a storm door & either knocked lightly or tried to open the door to the house. I know there's nothing I can do. I just call daily to be sure they're still alive & listen. I don't even offer advice anymore. Guest guest
Dawn, No they didn't call the police. Chances are a report would be ignored anyway. Sorry to sound cynical, but they live in an area where that is unsafe, & the police aren't much help. Things like this happen all the time. I would love for them to move to someplace safer, but it's not going to happen. -- Re: Mother/Sister update i hope they reported it to the police sarah. i knowthere is not much the police can do but if they getreports from other people of the same thing then theywill know someone is casing out the neighborhood andmight at least alert whoever patrols that area. scarystuff. dawn ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Christy, Can you imagine working "911" calls in a town where it's hard to tell the police from the criminals? You'll notice we moved away - & it's worse now. There's just so much unemployment & poverty that crime is just another "job" for some people. I think their current neighbors are sort of "all right", better than the prostitutes or the drug dealers that have lived there in the past. Gee, I didn't realize how I sound when I talk about it; but I'm not the only person who feels this way about that place. I call them every night, mainly to be sure they're still alive. They won't listen to anything I suggest, so I just check on them & hope I won't have to take care of an emergency for them. -- Re: Mother/Sister update , you have so much going on here and now to add that up there. I was hoping things were settling down! Tell to call the police and ask them to do "welfare drive-bys" since they are oler and alone. I know when I was at 911 we had a list of those that we did nightly on rounds. Hang in there. Sometimes I think it's harder when they're farther away and the "lack of control" that you have can eat away at you. Hugs Christy .. ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here

Guest guest
Any chance of an alarm system? Do they have window bars? At least on their basement windows? It was a coal mining area many years ago; the coal is gone, the people stayed. worked at the last factory in town until it closed several years ago. Now there's Wal-Mart, Dollar Stores, Food Lion, & church/charity groups. -- Re: Mother/Sister update wow!!! No, you've been to Sylvester.... I can't imagine anything like that at all!
