Rythmol was my first Rhythm control drug. I was pretty dizzy for the first

few days but later was OK. Rythmol is not recommended by most Cardiologists if

a person has heart disease. It didn't help me. I now take Amiodarone with

pretty good success and have been lucky so far regarding the bad side effects.

Best of Luck

Jacky,

I'm on propafenone, the generic of Rythmol, at 225 mg

three times daily. I've been on this dose for the

last five months. I'm also on warfarin and lisinopril

(generic ACE inhibitor for blood pressure). My dose

of propafenone was ramped up as my episodes of afib

became closer and closer. Right now I go into afib

about once every two weeks. As far as I can tell, the

only side effect I have is tiredness. It is not

unexpected (incidence of about 8% in clinical trials,

but probably occurs more often in the general

population). I feel a little bit like I'm on a beta

blocker, but not so completely taken out of myself.

It's been a good drug for me and bought me some time

as I think about ablation.

I'm on rythmol and it doesn't seem to be doing a lot of good, though it did

at first. I think I just adjust to any drug. I had the same problem with

amiodarone. At least rythmol doesn't have the nasty side effects of amio,

and I did feel lousy on amiodarone.

It is a very expensive drug, though. My doctor had me on the time release

capsules, and as there is no generic for it, it is outrageously

expensive. It ran me right through my whole prescription allowance for the

year. I did some research and asked him to put me on the non time

release. It is far cheaper. If your insurance has a cap on the meds (or

you don't have the insurance) I would look into this before I use up the

whole amount for the year.

Don't know about the other one.

Hi:

The efficacy of meds varies with the individual. Hope that Rhytmol will

suit you. In my case, it was the opposite.

Changed from Rhytmol to Sotalol. Give it a try.
