Guest guest
Hi Bev, Yes, urinary urgency is part of the package. I take Ditropan XL to control it. And, yep, I'm cold a lot of the time...if it's below 80, I'm cold. I seem to live in sweats. Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Guest guest
Bev, yes bladder problems are part of PLS. It is for me and I am on muscle relaxer's but only 4 mg a day and that is not much compared to others I suggest you ask your husband doctor for a bladder control drug like detrol XL or ditraopen (sp)................Flora

Guest guest
Hi Bev I don't think I've talked to you before. Are you New to the group? We had some discussion a few weeks...maybe months back. Several do have bladder problems but it was a toss up as to whether it was an actual symptom or a side effect of the muscle relaxants (Baclofen or Zanaflex) Also on the issue of being cold I believe several agreed with feeling cold alot. with me my affected foot and leg are usually cooler to touch than the rest of me. I don't feel cold but my body does so much better walking and talking when its in heat. Guest guest
Good evening Bev, Yes, a bladder problem goes with the disorder and a lot of the problem comes from the medication we have to take. I find sometimes that the urgency is almost unbearable and there is no waiting time. I also find myself having the urgency to go again the minute I get to the next room. It's like a part of the bladder has a fold in it and it unfolds by the time I get to my chair. However, I have two problems, since DX PLS, I also have been DX Type II diabetes. So I have that medication to deal with too. Yes, I also have problems with my feet and legs being cold, but I'm being told it is because of my diabetes. Who knows? I am different than others. I find that hot weather and humidity (as in Dallas, TX) are hard on me and I find my trips to my daughters place in Durango, CO are very enjoyable due to the dry and cool weather. My wife and I have an on going battle over the thermostat in the house and in the car. I sleep under a sheet and she is under a sheet and blanket folded in half on her side of the bed. All the vents in the car are pointed towards me or shut off on her side. Have yourself a good evening. Norton

Guest guest
Bladder problems were one of my first symptoms of PLS. Baclofen actually helps me. Detrol did little for me and gave me headaches. Recently, my baclofen pump dosage was set a little too high. While this impaired my use of my legs (too relaxed) my incontinence went away! Another trade off - mobility v. incontinence. I'm now on a lower dose and again have bladder problems. Guest guest
Lynn, I've heard some other people say that Detrol didn't help them much. Ditropan XL (time release) really did the trick for me. I didn't think the generic of Ditropan worked as well but maybe it was my imagination but I don't think so. I take 5 mg but some others in the group take 10 mg. Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. Helen Keller (1880-1968)
